No detailed notes. Drank with dinner of steak with blue cheese sauce, gorgonzola pasta and a light, tossed salad with lemon vinaigrette. An occasional oxidized note, this went quite well with dinner.

I'd say that this is a classic Italian Red Table wine. Some black cherry, strawberry and light spice. Had with the family at a restaurant in Boston's North End.

Brilliant. Younger Sangiovese vines from Montalcino softened with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Bolder than your typical Chianti, with red fruit fortified by medium+ tannins for some backbone. Great value and will be buying more.

Day 2 - Castelnuovo dell' Abbate region. Southern-most in Montalcino. More mountainous and higher elevation, also warmest part. Airflow cools it off at night. Sourced from Brunello vines, just picked early. Largely Sangiovese (85%), with Cabernet, then Merlot & Syrah (planted mid 1940's). No new oak used on the estate. 6 months used Slovenian oak. The first wine they ever produced at the winery, in 1945, just after World War II. Debut in 1946 as 80% Sangiovese and then Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet. 10% Cab this year, and 5 on the other too this year. This was to make something daily and very approachable. Wanted to try this entry level wine from a Tuscan producer I like. For $10, it's a winner. Fairly New World in style, with somewhat forward cherry fruit and some drying tannins on the finish. Medium to high acidity, with less earth or leather than many Tuscans. Better than any Chianti I have had at this price in recent years.
