Steely, saline and almost austere nose, but with a golden, slightly honeyed tinge. Mineral, astringent palate with sharp crescendo acidity, lime juice. A later hit of grapefruit peel, honeysuckle is welcomed, honeyed finish but remains tight. Sharp as a rapier.

This is the note for special bottle SSNF (Sans Soufre Ni Filtration). According to Chambers St Wine, only two boxes landed in NY. The wine reflects an oxidative style - sherry like aroma, oxidized apple, a bit of beeswax and caramel. Acidity is high. Not my style, but interesting to taste it

Notes from day three: Light amber, medium intensity. Mature, pronounced nose with dried yellow fruit, apple juice. Beeswax and some honey. On the palate a touch of sweetness, high acidity, medium body. 14,5% integrated. Mature, still fresh, kaleidoscopic flavour palette. Very good length with lingering hints of salinity and bitterness. More mature than expected, still very nice.

Popped and poured. Ten years on but showing no age excepting this antique gold colour. On the nose showed that typicalbyet delicious aromas of meringue, candied lemons and limestone among many others like dried herbs or citrus curd. In the mouth offered a firm yet oiled texture, mature lime acidity and a decent length with a bitter finish. For a lesser vintage like this, at its best. Better if warmer even. Descorchado y directamente vertido. Diez años ya pero sin …

Amber, medium(+) intensity. Mature nose, high intensity. Quince, wool, minerality, bitterness. A slight sweetness on the palate, high crescendo acidity, medium body, very good length. Complexity in flavours with accentuated lager beer, pineapple, wool, quince and some bitterness in the finish. Finely textured with nice phenolic grip. Mature yes, but still fresh without oxidation.

Just passed the top and slightly oxidized with a fino-like complexity. Gold colour. Ripe winter apples, autumn leaves, herbs. Energetic, very good acid, long and complex. Probably close to 90p a year ago.

Very interesting indeed. Somewhat oxidized (in the good way), quite rich with, honey, citrus, minerals, the structure tending bees wax, real personality - and good acdity stil, great food wine. #Anarki

A decent bottle, at last, after three spoiled ones. Rather dark and slightly oxidized, but the fruit is still going strong. Aromatic and rich, with the typical strong Chenin-Blanc acidity.

An exciting wine with real energy and character. Mineral, apple sauce nose. Classic dry Chenin. Intense, deep and very classy. I really like this.

Seemed a little sharp and disjointed when first opened, the wine was more about oxidation than fruit. But, 30-45 minutes later it seemed to spring to life. The astringent sharpness disappeared, and the mouthfeel smoothed out measurably.

My first Chenin as well as the first dry white with some age. Golden colored. Honey, pear, stonefruit. A petrol note (?), bitter almond and crispy acidity with a long mineraly finish.

Again the deep, deep golden yellow color. Again the bitter fruit and beeswax. Paired with Nigerian prawns with chipotle rub off the grill, which seemed like they deserved something special. But better yet was the glass left over, drunk next day.

The wine is clear and bright with a pale gold colour. The nose is clean and developing, showing medium intensity aromas of green fruit (yellow apple), herbaceous (fennel), bottle ageing (walnut, honey) and fruit development (hints of dry figs). The wine is dry in the mouth with a medium(+) acidity. It has low soft tannins and a medium(+) well-integrated alcohol. It has a medium body and pronounced intensity flavours of green fruit (yellow apple), herbaceous (fennel), bottle ageing (walnut, honey) …

felt compelled to offer a paean to an unappreciated gem -- took 15 min to open, then gave all it has left, which is more than I deserve -- rounded filling mouth feel, toasted chenin flavor, all subtle and classy. Any left in the world? I have 1 more bottle. Paid $2 for it at a closeout about 5-6 yrs ago, and went thru about 2 cases. Yes, am feeling great about this one, as it fades to a mellow …

Deep yellow-gold color. Apricots, beeswax (lanolin?) on the nose, with a magnificent palate of yellow fruits without much sweetness, but good acidity and a parchment-like long finish. Beautiful pairing with squid and prawns, sautéed with sumac, garlic, and chilies, in a sliced raw vegetable salad.

Deep, amper colour. Intense aromas of orange marmalade, orange peel, a hint of marsipan, and a somewhat madeirized touch - and after some hours in a decanter - beeswax. The bittersweet touch is there also on the palate, and associations go to sherry. I'm not sure if a mature savennières is supposed to be like this, but I suppose not. Probably over the edge, must try another bottle.

215 NOK. Broderen på besøk. Pors, honning olje tørka appelsinskall. Bra men sært anslag, ok fyldig midtparti. Tynn ettersmak uten syre. Mer inntressant en godt. 3 dager i flaske: Mye og kompleks lukt som sist + møbelpolich, lønnetred. Litt friskere, ingen tegn til oksidasjon. Uforstålig at DN har gitt 94 poeng

Just like aged Savennieres might taste like. Smokey, a bit savage, full of typical mineral characteristics and a dencent amount of very aged apple pie flavours. Good and very lively acid. Certainly a bit challenging and hard to get used to. Anyway I enjoyed it alongside a very prepared dish which I can't remember :-(

Fully developed Chenin Blanc! Bought this for approximately $40 which I must admit was money well spent. Not overly complex but still very interesting good concentration. Will not buy this again, but fun to try non the less. Drink now, can hold for another 5 years due to concentration and acidity but will probably not evolve into anything worth wating for.

I tasted this bottle from Mme Laroche in their tasting room in 2009 and was beautiful with notes of dried apricots, truffle and saffron. In 2011, I tasted this wine but probably did not decant long enough, still get strong apricot/saffron but with hints of minerality and almost antiseptic taste on the palate that would not dissipate. The color is deep golden almost orange and with the color and aroma remind me of a Sauterne but clearly it is bone …
