Hate to spoil the party but there's no harmony to this wine. The nose is quite nice with smoked meat, violets and baked fruit. On the palate, the wine is hollow, bitter and astringent. Bad bottle? Popped and poured. Muted translucent red. Medium body. No stableyard on the nose, unlike previous bottles. All elements are now very well integrated. Red fruit, soft, elegant, and delicious.

Medium red, transparent complexion Strong nose of iron and strawberry preserves. Medium bodied with juicy acidity and dusty tannins. Mouth aromas of dried red fruit, old leather, and dried blood. Grip of astringency stands out on the medium length finish. Overall a very satisfying entry level Northern Rhone that's showing its age, and would pair great with roasts or sausages.

Gee, I wish I hadn't consumed most of my six-pack as early as I did, because this wine is in a lovely spot right now. (One left.) Opened for an hour before pouring to find all elements in harmony: a bit of a stableyard on the nose, promising a red and black fruit blend that delivers in the glass. Excellent with food.

Medium ruby core, pale ruby rim. Nose initially a little mute, possibly the wine a bit too cool, but slowly opened up to reveal sweet red fruit, floral and vanilla notes, some spice. Medium bodied on the palate, with good weight and soft tannins on the mid-palate, attractive strawberry and cherry fruit, floral notes, elegant and nicely savoury with lovely fresh acidity carrying a medium/good length slightly grippy finish. Exciting nose of tar, smoke, pepper, and funk. This wine does tend to the darker side of the fruit spectrum, but that really doesn't matter as you really know what you're drinking. The mouth-feel isn't silky, but a tad gritty. The tannin comes on as the wine gets air, but has nice acidity to keep everything balanced. I'd say that this wine doesn't have much more to show, but will show it better sometime in the future. A good value.

Very nice; the lovely nose it had last year remains, but the black fruit is now apparent in the taste as well. Well-integrated tannins, very rounded, good manners: not too soft and not overly assertive. I didn't expect to like it as well as I did, but what an easy drinker this is. Bright red color. Aromas of red fruits, earth and spices. Medium-bodied fruit in the mouth with good structure and length. Not particularly rich or complex with mild, soft tannins and a clean, fresh finish.

Exactly like the bottle I tasted two months ago but this time open and soft from the beginning. Stylish, elegant and fragrant, the hint of undergrowth even hints at the Côte de Beaune, but the pepperiness on the finish reminds one it is Syrah we're drinking. Very lovely indeed.

Nice typical Northern Rhone characteristics in a lighter style. By the second day, it fleshed out a little, adding some textural interest. Ripe, well made, for a summertime steak.

Great, cote-rotie-like nose of raw beef and mineral. Bright dark berry framboise flavors, hint of wild herbs. Silky texture with very refined tannins. Very nice now but I think it will hold and improve for a couple of years.

Deeply colored, with a beguiling nose of smoke and herbs. On the palate, perfectly balanced, with a structure of silky evolved tannins carrying a core of smoky, sweet-cured bacon fat wrapped in a blanket of berries and garrigue. The first half-case was drunk with indecent haste: more care now with the remaining bottles. Remarkable wine, even by Rostaing's high standards.

Good summertime quaffing wine. Ruby red color. Interesting nose of provincial herbs like lavender, sage and rosemary intermingle with briary red berries. Good drunk with a slight chill.

Even better this time. Nose very herbal this time, spicy and full of rosemary stems and dirt and a bit of lavender flowers. Pure French syrah flavors of blood, iron, herbs, and minerals. Just an excellent food wine that is the polar opposite of most Syrah in the world anymore.

Color - Light for a Syrah, with slight bricking at the rim. Nose - Strong cracked pepper, Iron, Blackberries, raspberries and floral components, with a bit of bacon, with a touch of heat at the end.
