Yellow and white peaches, abundant and diverse nuts, hint of chocolate, brioche, hazelnut, rich and soft body, dense and creamy bubbles, high balance and completeness, white flowers.

Very nice bottle, but when served right after a 2004 DP it wasn't a fair fight.

1985 Horizontal Bordeaux (+ Champagne) (Melee) : Lovely and mature but also at its peak. There are some toast and mushrooms but it has help up very nicely and was a lot better than I would have expected. For me, it lacked a bit of length and personality but still, it is a very solid wine.

This was gifted to us in 2013 by our daughter who worked at the importer, Pernod Ricard at the time. Well fast forward 12 years and our family celebrated our 45th anniversary, toasting with this brilliant bottle. It was softly effervescent with apricot notes. Just the right amount of bottle age. My wife, who usually doesn’t like champagne, really appreciated this bottle. Cheers.

A total disappointment. Not a PJ drinker, but bought these on release based on the critics’ notes. No obvious flaws, but dull. Not interesting or particularly flavorful. A cramant-like mousse, Pinot dominant, came across as lower acid, short finish. The ‘08 Hebrart Gauche et Droite we drank earlier in the week blew the doors off this at half the price. Hope this was just a bad bottle and the next one resembles the wine other notes talk about.

From Magnum. Fruit of pears and bruised apple. Baking spices, yeast and a nice base of mineral notes such as chalk. Soft acids as main marker on the palate. This is a really nice and precise wine, but felt lacking a bit of character.

Opened to celebrate the birth of my first granddaughter (on July 4 - great time to celebrate) with friends. In a very nice place - smooth, well integrated with flavors of yellow apple, Almonds, orange and lemon peel. My last bottle, will need to find some more of this to continue to celebrate lifes great events.

Good glass of Champagne. Very rich and full of fruity flavours. Pineapple, peach and mature apples. Dough, brioche and sourdough also very up front. Getting slowly used to low dosage this wine seems quite sweet. The effervescence is low (as I like it) but present through a few hours. Slight oxidation beginning. This is good and a crowd pleaser for sure. But a bit one dimensional.

Le Mans of 2008 Champagne magnums; 5/9/2025-5/10/2025 (Chicago, IL) : Luminous bottling. I. Not a wine I cross paths with frequently; the group doesn't tend to give this wine much heed, so I was very interested to try it. It's a definite step up from the Grande Dame -- in some sense it's very similar with the white fruit profile, more of an autolytic, creamy texture with very fine bead, and some of the prominent 2008 acids. But there's more …

What a long and intense experience. Almonds, cardamom, lilies, puff pastry, ripe apricot, orange peel and lemon curd on the nose. High intensity of aromas. Chalk, ripe yellow peach, ripe apricot, lemon peel and orange peel lead off the palate. Around mid-palate, the flavors to change to fresh baked bread, and then finally to almonds and macadamia nuts, which drive a beautiful 45-second long finish. High intensity of flavors. Medium + body with medium acid and a medium - mousse. …

- from MAG, very drinky house champagne with intense brioche and zesty lemon notes, accessible and altough it has a nice (brioche) generosity, its balanced out very well with its accidity adding freshness and joy. felt clearly chardonnay driven but indeed has (only 50% chardonnay) and in a great spot to drink now but could gain complexity next 5-10 years.

Scent: nature, flour bread, Taste: green ananas, yellow fruits, citrus, white apple, peach, apricotes, pear. Very easy to drink and yummy bottle. Takes over 1 hour before the aromas comes out from the wine. A good champagne, but a little bit linear and monotome. Points: 91 (93)

I thought a previous bottle opened a couple of years ago seemed past it. This was much more like it, plenty of energy, vibrant, some passion fruit, citrus and a super creamy texture. A long lingering finish too.

Wow…something happened over the last two years… enjoyed as an aperitif prior to Thanksgiving dinner….very expressive, complex, satisfying, and vibrant. Effervescence, white and yellow fruit clusters, chalky minerality and brioche, with a focused vein of acidity to provide a strong finish. Drinking at, or close to peak. Drink though 2031.

(Blind tasting) Full and deep nose. Mature. Ripe yellow apple. Cream and chalk in lovely combination. Also lovely toast after a while. Hedonistic. Fullish and very long palate. Very good concentration. Mineral, smoke, chalk and orchard fruit. Chocolate and nuts after time in glass. Very, very rich. This has really improved since tasted in 2019. Probably at its peak power, we actually guessed on Dom Perignon on this one.

Lorne Rangers 2024 - Rioja (Lorne Restaurant, London) : Smoky pear note on pouring, some bitter almonds too. Palate is old school but cracking. A little biscuitiness that with air become more brown bread like. There are hints of grapefruit segment on the palate with a lovely line or acidity. Very more-ish.

Lorne Rangers 2024 (Lorne) : Goodness me, this is delicious! Just so appealing, and certainly à point. Smooth and a touch sweet in an old-fashioned way, and well-developed to the extent that the notes were more bready than fruity. Buttered toast, pineapple and lime pith, and a little bit floral and creamy on the finish. Really very drinkable, and a superb match for the snacks.

Generously brought by our dinnerguests. Expressive nose with violet, cream, yellow apples, orange and a touch of smoke. After a while just hints of very high quality almonds. On the palate light and elegant. Not the most intense experience but very well balanced, elegant and complex. Again cream and oranges and a touch of winegums. Medium acidity, a touch of chalk, salt, iodine and smoke. Good lenght. Very nice! True to the elegant, fresh, light style I associate with this …

Light golden color; Bruised apple, hints of ripe melon, caramel ALL give me pause as they convey maturity and perhaps (too?) early maturity. Bakery notes, toast, Bosc pear and white chocolate indicate more complexity than imminent death; ripeness with quite alot of vigor and weight. Long, substantial finish, short on elegance.

As could be expected, maderized. Gold with no bubbles. Citrus tones of Meyer lemon. Flat, but rich, complex taste. Not unpleasant but clearly past it's prime by 30 years or more. I'm enjoying this as a still wine.

Have not had good luck with champagnes that are more than 10 years old, and this, 17 years later, was no exception. Well past its prime, musty corked taste and noticeably reduced carbon dioxide (right from the weak pop). Surprisingly still drinkable though not particularly enjoyable. Lesson learnt--for that price, I could have bought 20 bottles of a decent sparkling wine, each of which I would have enjoyed more.

Château Haut-Brion and Château La Mission Haut-Brion Tasting and Dinner (Winefield's Auctioneers, Amsterdam, NL) : Medium golden colour with amber reflections; attractive tertiary evolution on the nose, nuts and candied fruit, paired with tart lemon fruit and deep minerality; rich flavours on the palate, sustained by very typical firm 1996 acidity, ripe citrus fruit; gentle bitters on the finish, very good persistence.
