Game of Rhones (Carriageworks, Redfern) : lovely ripe red berry fruit and Yankee oak extremely nice nose in an old school way…more of the same on the palate, very good and quite fun.

Consumed 3 bottles over a year and a bit. Had some curiosity about the benefits of ageing it longer, but ultimately my impatience won out. It's a cracking wine but I think given the acidity (medium), tannin (low) and perceptible oak (high), it might not have much more to give. The wine has been more oaky each time I've tried it, though underneath all that make-up is a very silky delicious wine.

After speaking to the assistant winemaker, I have revised my "drink latest" date. He tells me that 100% Grenache wines (even from old vines like this) turn a brown colour and hit a decline after about 5-7 years. No need to wait anyway. Little perceptible tannin and everything is pretty well integrated. If anything the oak is a little more dominant than I remember. I have one bottle left and I'll pop it this year or next.

A super impressive wine. Very oaky aromas, feels like a lot of new oak. At 5 years this is in prime condition with classic Grenache character coming through on the nose and palate - kirsch and raspberry and confected sweet fruit, but in spades with a generous balance and length. Unsure about how this will age, as the tannins are already pretty integrated and it's already drinking really smoothly... I plan to revisit my other bottles over the next 5 …

A wine that has had the preferential treatment in terms of careful site selection, old vine material, hand picking and careful oak management. This care and consideration is shown in the resulting wine, the nose has vanillin oak and ripe cherry fruit, the palate shows power and elegance with cherry and plum fruit combining with savory spice from the excellent oak integration, the finish shows fine grained tannins and excellent length. This wine will be in it's prime over the …
