Wine Box 1st portfolio tasting (Wine Box warehouse) : There is an abundance of dark fruit here, full on spicy, thick oak frame, overripe fruit, warmth (14.50%), pot pouri, currants. Palate is full on black fruit, sweet spices, cherry notes, black peppery notes, strong oak presence again, full body, warmth, chocolate notes, bold tannins, long finish A beast

Dark ruby in color, no opacity, high alcohol based on viscosity. Aromas of ripe raspberry, dark plum, vanilla, cocoa, anise and caramel. Palate is true to nose with additional oak spice, supple tannin that leads to a persistent finish with acidity to keep balance. Nice spice in the late palate that is delightful. Full body, medium+tanning, medium acid, long finish

It's a well done mountain fruit wine.

This is very approachable, with a soft and creamy palate, and a core of blackberry, blueberry and dark cherry. There is some depth here as well with milk chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, and baking spice accents adding complexity. Decanted for an hour and brought to 65 degrees. For a Napa Cab it’s value priced.

Remarkably similar to my notes from June 2023. Same fresh fruit salvo at the beginning. Maybe a touch of bramble in the second wave on the palate that i don’t remember but very much in the same place. That’s not a bad thing!

It struck me as a bit young and closed with nice potential, even on night two (stored half bottle overnight in refrigerator). It was giving aromas of caramel and vanilla over black cherry. There were flavors of plum, cedar, and ended on lingering black cherry notes. Medium tannins and acidity should keep this interesting for several years.

Blue and black mountain fruit, touch of sweetened sage. Delicious wine.

I picked up a few bottles so took the liberty of having one early. It’s a baby now for sure, full of ripe fruit on the red and black scale, tilted towards red. Not as tannic as I thought it would be. Actually pretty well behaved for something this young, good mountain grapes coming through. Not too many secondary notes right now. Maybe a touch of savory mint but not pronounced to be sure. Looking forward to comparing over time.

Ripe and clearly mountain fruit to it. Ripe and oak. And mountain fruit. Its all there, if a bit straight ahead, and yet still Mount Veeder.
