Aerated to decanter for sixty minutes. Medium-bodied, some tobacco, earth, forest and an admixture of red/dark red fruits. Decent weight, avg freshness, complexity and length. Drink or hold. Has yet to justify its price. 13,0% abv.

Needs 90 minutes or so to open up. Good acidity, moderate plus intensity fruit flavors, some oak and soft but still slightly gnarly tannins. Pretty good Chianti (this is much more drinkable now than my previous bottle a year or so ago), but still a little thin in the middle and not much finish. I kept wanting it to be just a notch better than it is. May continue to improve with additional age though.

Seems past its prime at this point. On the nose ripe cherries, cinnamon, hint of violets, volatility. Would have guessed it as a Nebbiolo. On the palate quite thin, the fruit is still there but waning, tannins as well. On the sour side, notes of lingonberry, thyme, green pepper. Very lengthy, but lacking much depth. A nice wine winding down.

Took a good 2 hours to open up, and even then the flavors were very muted. Not sure whether it still needed more time, or it just isn't a very interesting wine, or if this is merely an off bottle.

From magnum, decanted for 4 hours and follow for 2 hours. I fully agree with JamesSanders that this is a Burgundian style Chianti--elegant. Good wine, approachable and will improve 91+

PnP. Good+ structure, good+ complexity, sense of place and grape. This already appeals to my palate though I'm certain it'll be much more complete in 4-6 more years. Very good food wine. At its apogee, this will be highly recommended http://www.italianwine.blog

Bought on release and stored at 56 degrees. A Burgundian style Chianti--elegant, aromatic and acid driven. Also Burgundian in the sense that it seems completely shut down on the palate. Nose remains expressive, with red fruits and wood spice. But it's all structure in the mouth and just not a pleasant drink now. I will let my remaining bottles sit for 3-5 years before opening the next one.

Very impressive. This had a core of pure cherry-kirsch, like what you might find in the purest kirsch eau de vie, minus the alcohol. The palate is soft and silky, the fruit pure and direct and impactful, yet the wine is almost weightless. Very distinct and memorable wine. Bottle 1 of 7.

transparent ruby appearance, the nose shows a crushed red berry and cherry aroma, quite angular on the palate, juicy acidity, crystalline, a bright expression, shows mostly cherry and raspberry fruit, characterized by minerality and purity, refreshing, and great with pasta with tomato based sauce

Inky dark garnet. Very dense nose of leather, clove, bright cherry & raspberry. Super complexity and good balance. On the palate this is well-framed, medium bodied and offers a long complex finish. Good.

Janselijn Wines & Verkerk Wines Burgundy v. Tuscany Tasting (Restaurant The Lobby Fizeaustraat, Hotel V, Amsterdam, NL) : Trade tasting, brief note. Crisp and fresh style, pleasantly tight, spicy warmth, the tannins are a bit tough, but there is also a satiny texture and a lovely floral finesse. Pretty.
