Have mixed experience with '00s Ponsot but this was great. Super elegant with impressive depth and length. Young but very approachable.

Gareth's Burgundy Dinner - Noize (Noizé, London) : No formal note. A touch closed, brooding, dark fruited. Medium bodied on the palate, surprisingly light on its feet, spicy, a bit tight/firm on the finish still though. ****

From magnum. 3 hour decant. Wow. Sharpness on opening. Like unwrapping a cran-raspberry tartlet wrapped in paper made from porcici mushrooms. Evolved in glass over 2 hrs. Advise 6plus hour ox, or 4 more years. Garnet, bright ruby to rim. Black raspberry and the dead leaves, the dirt and the truffles on the palate. Someone said blood orange. Good smelling sneakers in my notes. Young, and Delicious and Intense.

Birthday 1st flight (red) I have not really had a Ponsot that truly impress me, be it older / younger, they normally hard likes a rock, except the 2008 Clos de la Roche which was utterly impressive and seductive. I put my bet on this 2007 as they are drinking well at this stage, and also my very 1st CSD from Ponsot, from 100+yrs old vines. I love CSD, for their elegance, finesse & subtleness. What I love about Burgundy …

Transparent medium garnet ruby. Soft smoky aromas wrap around a generous balsamic cherry core. High acid further highlights the ripe fruit, which is reminiscent of raspberry jelly. Nicely ripened tannins, medium long finish, but all-in-all lacking in dimension.

Dark red color. Very good concentration of red dark fruit. Medium plus body, nice soft round integrated tannins. Nice medium finish. Good fruit power and concentration for a 2007.
