Nice deep red wine with light spices and some light dusty notes. Alcohol notes is subtle but still noticeable. Aged well but maybe slightly pass its prime.

rich and brooding. the nose is a little spicier, with notes of cola, white pepper and clove. as intriguing as the bouqet is, the palate takes this even further. it’s bright, lively and balanced, not cloying, with lovely sweetness that’s booked ended by a pleasantly smooth tannin-wrapped mineral finish.

Has it really been 5 years since I opened the last bottle and I was a bit aprehensive, because I had a 2003, I think last year, and this was passed its prime, but then, 2003 was a hot year and that would have impacted the longevity. 2006 was a very good year for ageworthy wines and this one... wow, completely in the zone, so wonderful now. And as always, Marion wines are easy to drink and this is no …

Dark plum fruit with a solid aftertaste and dense sweetness. Lovely and refined acidity and overall, a fine balance. Drinking very nicely right now!

Dark blackberry fruit and lots of espresso flavor. I had hoped for a more integrated wine but it does seem like the alcohol is starting to dominate the flavors. After having tasted this several times in its youth, it is quite disappointing now. I had hoped for a more balanced wine. Still, a decent wine at it does seems to be at its best drinking window.

PnP and served nicely. I would say it’s at the peak.

Beautiful, can I say sophisticated and less robust version of the Amarone style. Lovely texture, nice fruit with a slight majority of red over dark, a nice level of acidity and a gloriously enjoyable finish!

Monthly Tuesday group "The Dead Sparrow" #045: Amarone (@ The factory by JdB) : Very ripe fruits, and tobacco in a mature bouquet. On the palate ripe dark berries, chocolate, concentrated, a lot of sweetness and also fresh acidity and some bitterness. Not tired yet.

As usual upon pouring it shows a full bodied wine, dark red color. Doesn't seem to have aged. Compairing to a Tedeschi Monte Olmi, this is lighter and a more dry amarone, less sweet. Right out of the bottle its full-bodied indeed but less viscous then the Tedeschi, great acidity, keeping the wine fresh. Nice sour cherry flavour and aroma. An hour in I start to taste some lavender, tobaco and raw meat. As always Marion is so easy to …

Massive mouth coating texture that's smooth as silk. Huge dark fruit and inexorably long finish.

So much potential, but bitter edges and fruit that never quite came forward, after two hours of decanting. We tried, folks.

Weekly tasting group RWP #256: Giro d'Italia (@ JdB) : The bouquet is a bit tertiary with chocolate and cinnamon. On the palate a lot of sweet chocolate, plums, oak, cinnamon and sweetness. The acidity is still ok, but this wine is completely ready. Because of its development stage I wonder if this is an ok bottle, so no score. The wine was still pleasurable.

Disappointed given price > 100 USD. Very flat. Wait another 5 year - perhaps it will open up.

SLDS February 2017 : Blackcurrant, blackberrry and dusty charcoal. Rich and full throttled on the palate, the alcohol element does creep in a little bit and disrupt the flow. Not bad but doesn't stand out as being more than that.

Barbecued bacon leaps out of the sumptuous, lifted, alcoholic and rustic nose, with red and dark fruits. The tannins are very green and enormous for an Amarone. There is certainly enough here to carry through and improve until the tannins resolve, so my score may well turn out to be conservative.

A private dinner (@ Home) : This is a really big (16% ABV) and powerful wine, deep and rich and spicy, with a nose of currants, plums and amarena cherries, grilled red meat, hint of cocoa; concentrated but remarkably fresh on the palate, flavours of black cherries and cocoa give it a port-like quality, ripe and broad tannins, long but quite hot on the dry finish. Seems coarser now than it was in youth, when it was glossy and seamless. …

100% dried fruit. More concentrated, riper, but with lift and energy, not stewed. Great mouthfeel, generous, rich, still enough acidity. Spicy, long. Very good. 91-92+

Seems to have aged a bit fast for my liking.. Consistent with my expectation of the fact that this wine is not as good as the older Marion Amarones (pre-2006). Still it did really taste nice but has aged at least 5 years to fast.

Very dark, robust and tastfull, heavy comparing with other amarones I tasted, expected a bit more fruit.

Expressive, floral bouquet with strawberries, vanilla, beautiful oak and some mint. On the palate ripe dark forest fruits, ink, caramel, roses, chocolate etc. Enormously lush with a lot of sweetness and also good acidity. There is a little heat in the finish, but beside all the concentrated rest and complexity, it hardly bothers me. A great wine. Early maturity now and a beauty until at least 2020.

Decanted a good 4 hours to see if this might settle down...NOT!!! Nose is still quite bombastic, huge scents of blackberries & prunes, quite monolithic. The palate shows huge concentration, this is a bruiser, nothing fancy here! This is almost sirupy in texture and extremely sweet tasting. Also still showing a lot of heat on the back end...no doubt, one glass is way too much, not my style and I usually love Amarones! Might improve with A LOT of time …

Double decanted for 4 hours and served with braised lamb shanks! Extreme candy and lolipop on the nose. Vanilla over the top with dill pickle scents...this is WEIRD! The palate is disjointed and shows a lot of HEAT. This is a bombastic wine, it's all over the place. Very tannic and sweet. This is no where near the Masi's, Romano Dal forno or even Tommasi. PASS!

A wine I had looked forward to tasting for the first time. The nose is intense and continued to impress over the 2-3 hours the wine was in the glass. A lot of oak influence is present in the nose but also some nice almonds and marcipan notes with a good deal of dark sweet cherries. The dark cherries also dominate the fruit on the palate which is mixed quite nicely with vanilla, freshly ground coffee and dark chocolate. The …
