Robola Wine Producers Cooperative Orealios Gaea 'R' Robola of Cephalonia

This was a curious little bottle. Purchased for a measly $7 at my neighborhood liquor store to braise some rabbit (which it succeeded at, by the way), I couldn't help but pour a glass and sample. Had no clue what to expect, but a very nice surprise. Crisp, fairly light, but with substance and character. Citrusy nose. Palate also has some citrusy fruit together with minerals, slight salinity and fresh yet balanced acidity. Could be imagining things, but to me the wine truly suggest a beautiful sunset in the Ionian islands. Excellent sense of place. A pity it is so hard to get hold of, will buy more of I come across it. Excellent QPR.
