Frankly underwhelming and lacking depth, interest and development. Overripe. Drink or avoid. Bottle 5 of 5. 14.5% abv

Albeit past its prime, nonetheless tertiary flavors abound and it was quite enjoyable. Tannins super smooth.

Dark garnet colored Dusty nose. Leather gloves. Some remnants of dark fruit Thick and unctuous. Dusty. Medium-plus finish. Pretty linear. A good wine for sure but misses the mark IMHO. Drink now, as I doubt it will get any better. Pizza and wings tonight. Thanks Britt.

Quinta do Vale Meão - Tour and tasting (Douro, Portugal) : From memory, no notes. Medium to dark garnet colour. Dried fruit profile, with some oak tannin. Apparently made from much riper fruit at the time than more recent vintages, with more extraction and more oak. Showing some age, and the wine seemed more evolved than I would expect at 12 years old.

I drank the same wine as Fipile à la différence que je ne vois aucune trace d'âge à l'oeil. La robe est pourpre, complètement opaque. Le vin est prêt à boire et je suis content d'avoir une autre bouteille parce que c'est rendu trop cher.

decanted for 1 hour, then poured back in the bottle for 3 hours. Dark Crimson colour showing little age, the nose mixed berries, menthol, eucalyptus, and a bit of tobacco leaves. On the palate, the concentration is obvious, the tannins are integrated and fine, and layers of more dark and red fruits (blackcurrant, cherry), balanced oak, and a fine streak of menthol freshness that gives the wine a sense of lightness and a long finish.

At Rare wine dinner (Muru) from Magnum. Rather closed on the nose with little dark fruit. Medium bodied, supple and smooth, showing subtle dark fruit with minerals/salt licorice and gentle tannins. Pretty nice.

Not quite balanced and seemingly in the middle of something. Lacking the elegance of other vintages

Skøn vin med god kraft, behagelig syre og dejlig rød frugt.

This is an Okay wine. The body is medium+, the nose is kind of mute, it's pretty unidimensional but good. Green tea, leaves, and decent finish. Not a good value but it may get better with some time. IDK.

This has aged nicely. Blue/black fruits paired with soft tannins and still some good acidity and complexity. Really tasty and great QPR.

Made from Touriga Nacional (35 %), Touriga Franca (34 %), Tinta Roriz (20 %), Tinta Barroca (6 %), Tinta Cão (3 %), Sousão. Purple colour. Very fine, med+ intense bouquet. Dry, med(+) acid and tannins, med+ body and intensity. Good finish. Probably made to be drunk now, but I don't think this one is going downhill anytime soon. Drink og keep. My notes: Black fruits and berries, bramble, vanilla, raisins, granite and spices.

Fourty-one grapes in this. Sweet ripe nose with floral/red fruit notes. Oak is very well-integrated. Elegant, smooth texture with a beautiful, lasting aftertaste.

Winebar [4 Whts, 8 Reds, & 4 Shared Bottles] from 12/8/17 (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA) : 35% Touriga Nacional, 34% Touriga Franca, 20% Tinta Roriz, 6% Tinta Barroca, 3% Tinto Cão, & 2% Sousâo. "After crushing the grapes undergo a thermal shock followed by foot walking for four hours in granite winches. The wort is transferred to small capacity wine cellars with temperature control. The grapes are vinified separately. This wine aged in second and third year barrels …

I decided to decant this for 4 hours prior to starting to taste it just to see what an extended aeration would do. Plenty of mocha and tar showed when I first started drinking this 4 hours into decanting. Over the following 3 hours it slowly changed to more tar and black fruit. The light tannins and lifting acidity did not change and respectively gave it depth and freshness. I really liked how this wasn't "over the top" in terms …

Opened about 24 hours. Lovely bramble berries, graphite, spices, cedar, and a tannic backbone running through it. This drinks very well, and a touch better with a good decant, and I'd surmise it should be able to hold a few years without issue if one so desire. But why wait. I think it's so well balanced right now there's no point in aging this. 89 Points

Beautiful dark purple. Concentrated aromas of chocolate, cherries, and blueberry. Lots of vivacity. Palate is also concentrated, heavy tannins, dark berries. Really delicious and easy drinking. I agree with the other reviews; this is 3-5 years from being special.

A rich, forceful, plump wine with dark fruits (plums, blackberry), pepper, violets and vanilla. Perhaps a bit internationally styles for some, but I thought this was well done and built to improve with cellar time. Lengthy finish with fine-grained tannins.

Youthful color, well made wine that need some red meat to help with a little bit of bitterness. I would love to try that in a few years.

Unfortunately I opened this bottle at a nice restaurant and despite a two hour decant it was largely undrinkable. Currently a tannic monster. Has tremendous potential as a hyper-concentrated big red. Would wait at least 5 years and this could be really good. Very sad I committed infanticide on a not inexpensive bottle.

Blackberry, flowers and dried herb, savoury nose. The palate has lush blackcurrant fruit with superb intensity which then gives way to a wonderful garrigue and cedary finish. This is really good now but I would love to taste it with 5-10 years more in the bottle. Unfortunately Portuguese supermarkets are only selling the most recent vintage and I have nowhere suitable to lay it down here.
