‘Got a few bottles remaining. Drinking beautiful. Previous notes cover the details. I will add there’s a tobacco nose as wine is tasted. ‘Just eager to encourage drinking it sooner than later.

Nicely balanced berry fruit. This needs air to settle down as it is a bit rough when first poured. Day two this is classy and well integrated. Really well done for a 19 yr. Old!

Still very dark There is alcohol on the nose and sweet jammy dark fruits waft from the glass The wine itself is big and voluptuous with sweet plums and black fruits and a rich mouthfeel. It still has a bit of tannin and the finish is long. This is an big delicious Syrah that is excellent now but will continue to drink at its peak for at least 5 years I think Score held back a point just because it's …

This is the second of the three Syrahs from the Behrens & Hitchcock 2004 Syrah tasting lot I purchased. This is very different than the "Chien Lunatique" wine I reviews before. Color is a beautiful inky purple. The smell is more woody, think more of a cedar/oak mix. The flavor is very mellowed out fruit with smoke/bbq profiles. Loving the aging on this wine, but would drink soon as it's getting close to its ideal drinking time in my mind.

Showing some age with stewy fruits and some tomato leaf herbaceousness. Fig, prune, raisin and baked black and blue fruits round out this wine that still has lovely structure. Drink now with a big piece of lamb or venison.

We did not decant and sucked it down pretty quickly. Initially a bit hot on the nose and palate. Evolved toward spicy dark fruit. Think blackberries tinged w broccoli. Holding its complex structure well. Plenty of life remaining.

Aerated & filtered to decanter. Initially closed, but big expressive nose suggested, if not promised, good things to come. At ~30+ minutes the fruit blossomed. Drinking really well right now with plenty of unctuous black fruit, balanced acidity & fully integrated tannins, soft leather & spice. Nice long balanced finish. No problem with ALC%, as feared. A very balanced (did I say balanced enough?) reasonably big well done Syrah that mated quite well with prime rib holiday feast.

This wine is still massive even after aeration and decanting for just under an hour. Deep purple in color with ripe dark fruits including blackberry and some blueberry on a long 60-90 second finish.

Still a massive wine, decanted for about 1 hour and drank with a cheese board including a smoky Gouda that paired nicely and moving to steak for dinner. This wine was the favorite of the night and still drinking great!!

Showing some dark red fruit, game on the nose with spice, well-integrated tannins and a hint of leather. My wife said 92, 90 for me (too light in body/structure which did not contrast the fruit well). Drinking blind, her first guess was zinfandel, as this shows some serious alcohol and glycerin. In Behrens style, not to be confused with old world Syrah! As expected for 2004+ Behrens, this was bottled under real cork and avoided the 2002 and prior artificial …

Decanted this wine about 30 minutes before we drank. I believe the wine could have benefited from another 1-2 hours of decanting. The tannins are still somewhat astringent, but the wine is showing very nicely. Dark in color, with briary black fruit and blueberry on the palate. Wine began to open up by the last glass and would have benefited from additional decanting.

Aged to perfection and a glorious B&H Syrah with great complexity, length and tasty black frutis, hints of baking spices, ainse, and some nice minerality to this Cali Syrah. Really realy balanced tannins, acid, fruit & meatiness. 93+

Sweet dark fruit, espresso, and chocolate wrapped inside eucalyptus, smoke and leather. Chewy, chalky, hot and a little crazy right now, but I think beautiful in couple more years. No flab, no prunes.

Opened but didn't decant - would have been beneficial as the wine grew throughtout the next 2 hours. Really a bomb after an hour or so.
