Domaine Louis Boillot et Fils Pommard 1er Cru Les Fremiers

13% alcohol. Deep, dark and somewhat translucent maroon color. The nose feels dull and cheery with funky aromas of Gruyère, some raisiny tones, a little bit of damp earth, light decomposing wood tones and a hint of soy sauce. The wine feels crunchy, sinewy and quite dull on the palate with a medium body and dry flavors of tired red fruits, some cheesy notes of Gruère, a little bit of dried fig, light musty notes of damp earth, a hint …

The floral aroma reveals its Volnay origin. It has half of everything in the bottle of Fremiets from Marquis d'Angerville.

Quite nice burgundy. Red fruits and forest floor. Well balanced and with some power. But I was expecting more presence given the premiere cru tag and price.

It was ok. The fruit seemed a little under ripe. Didn't improve the next day.

Liked the minerality, lightness and purity of fruit, the acidity- nice now, better over time

Perhaps had a bit young, and surely out of sequence. Had at DC Bobby Van with porterhouse, other wine drunk first was a 2008 Altagracia. Anyhow, the Volnay showed a very nice burg nose, and minerality and focus. Not confident in the tannins that I'm predicting better over time.

Ruby. Attractive nose of plum, cherry, liquorice, and sous bois. There is an appealing balance of fruit and earth in the mouth, but not much intensity or purity. Medium-light body is lithe and supple. This could benefit from a few more years cellar rest.

Lovely cherry nose. Great minerality in mouth. Needed hour of air for tannins to soften and palate to open but then it was terrific and very food friendly. Will hold off drinking again for a few years.
