We considered this bottle from Spain's Toro region as a house wine candidate. The price is right at $9.99. Made from the Tinto de Toro grape (what Tempranillo is called in Toro), our first impression is of a wine with rigorous legs in the glass. Big jammy red fruit notes characterize a somewhat meaty and hearty nose. The palate is less powerful than we expected. Cool up front, warm in the back, this wine is less complex, yet satisfying. It …

2nd day after opening: fabulous Toro, lots of taste: plum, dark cherry, laurel and so velvety, yet with Spanish strenght (probably helped by the 14,5% alcohol)!

Rough, ripe, and coarse. Don't bother.

Bit acidic. Better to splurge $4 more for the 1 year additionally matured bottle and skip the joven.

A straightforward offering, reminiscent of Rioja. Light, high acid, high alcohol.

Opened on Thanksgiving. Tasting the last half a glass tonight. Deep dense saturated purple from core to rim. Big grapey aromas with plums figs and tarand a bit boozy. Medium(+) with very big tannins that are grippy but not rough. Very ripe but finish clean a bit port like with leather mineral and graphite notes lost a bit of freshness from being opened two days ago and left sealed on the sideboard. Great value and even at five years old …

The hot and humid weather finally broke, so we made an antipasto and opened a bottle of one of our favorite tempranillos, the Toro Sabor. It's an inexpensive wine ( at under $8) with cassis on the nose and pungent, fruit- filled, and provocative on the palate, with a medium long finish. Perhaps not a wine to accompany a $40 aged chateaubriand, but a delightful wine for simpler pleasures on the back porch on a summer afternoon.

On the nose I get seaweed, mocha, and dark fruit. Flavors of cherries, red berries, chocolate, and a bit of cedary spice. Nice fine tannins but a shortish finish. A bit past prime.

Surprisingly very nice daily drinker. Full bodied with a mix of sweet black cherries and licorice in the mid palate and some spice at the finish with some drying rough tannins that softened with an hour of air. Great QPR.

Nice bouquet, filled with spice and fruit. I found the palate a little tannic and the spices/fruits hidden the first night, but my wife found it really nice. I would give it an 86 based on night#1, but I'm upgrading based on her views.

I bought a case recently and saw that the average rating on CT was almost 90 ! But for my pallet the score is too high... It did not open up on the first night, so it needs some air or another year in the cellar. Better the second night, dark ruby color, dominated by cherries, some plum with a little spice - maybe pepper... Short aftertaste.... Normally I like the temperanillo very much, one of my favorites is the …

This was a very nice tempranillo from a good vineyard that always produces quality wine. The '08 was no exception delivering a deep ruby full-body red with a great nose of cherries. On the tongue we tasted dark fruit, cherries and very ripe plums with a peppery spice after tone.

Good wine but just too young. Tanic is too overpoweringand very bold. Full body red but not too dry. Good length, will buy more and store them for 2 years.
