In the peak of its drinking window. Will probably stay there for several years. Doesn't need to be decanted.

Concentrated, complex, fruit forward with blueberry and blackberry notes on aroma and palate along with weathered leather and slight tobacco note. Well structured, velvety finish. Decanted 1.5 hours, paired perfectly with noisette of lamb.

One of the best wines I've tasted. Great tannin and fruit. possibly opened to young. Could use another 5 years in the bottle.

My palate seemed off today. Still an enjoyable big young wine, but this was a little sweeter than I remembered. Dark fruit, black plum, blackberry, black currant--nice length and layers

Not sure its worth the price tag but really nice wine. Smooth in its profile, elements come together in wonderful balance and harmony.

Great, but unusual. My first impression was that it tasted more like Northern Rhône Syrah than a Napa Cab-based blend. With more decanting it changed a bit and the Napa brand became more recognizable. Beautifully aromatic, very dark fruit with slightly sweet notes of raisin and chocolate at the end of the palate, balanced integrated structure with soft tannins

Warm dry growing season yielding quality wines for aging, but said to be too fruit-forward or overripe for some. Padrone, aka “the thinking man’s Caymus” (lol), is great execution of the big concentrated Napa Cab. I’m a fan despite my inclination against fruit bombs. Deep purple, very light evidence of aging at the rim. Decanted 3 hours, drank over 2 days: Yes, a fruit bomb, with the nose somewhat linear but more interesting over time… Cherry and raspberry syrup, BLUEBERRY …

Deep ruby color. Black cherries on the nose. Opened up with 30 minutes in decanter to show a Bordeaux style CA cab that is now fully mature and well knit - less fruit forward and plump, with leather, some spice, vanilla, rich mouth feel, long finish. Drink up.

Big time wine. Fragrant, intoxicating, and complex nose. On the palate a big very fruti-forward extraction. Blackberry, black currant, basil, scorched earth, cacao, and candied black cherry. Driving great now, and personally I wouldn't hold another ten years, though there is enough acidity on the back end to last a while. Seamless mix of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Cabernet Franc, aged for 2 years in 100% new French oak.

My last of these. This was delightful right out of the bottle though took on a pronounced, overt, sugary sweetness after about an hour - felt a bit over the top. But, this completely disappeared after about the 2nd hour, and things became much more deep, powerful and serious. Very nice. Wish I had more. I generally love the '12 Napa vintage and this is no exception.

Two hour decant and - wow - a structured, generous, complex and classic cab. Served with chateaubriand on a special occasion dinner, for which this wine was very well suited. Drinking beautifully now, jammy and long. Notes of plum, dark cherry, coffee and tobacco. Same experience as others with disintegrating cork - take care, use long-worm c-screw and have the butler's friend ready.

Dark, saturated crimson color. Prune, plum, carob and fig on the nose; rich and expansive palate of black currant, fig, chocolate and just a touch of oak. Tannins completely resolved. Finish is velvety sweet and long. Good as it gets for this style, and greatly enjoyed by all with grilled steaks.

Elegant and refined… Until the alcohol wallops you at 15.8%. Sticks out like a sore thumb. Fruits have faded nicely to the background but the alcohol…it will be mostly the alcohol…. Drink now. I don’t see this getting any better.

Had this on thanksgiving. Pnp and was very hot. Poured into a decanter for 3 minutes. Blackberries and spices hit the nose. Other than the high alcohol the acid and tannins were well integrated. Drinking well now.

Dry; medium plus tannin; full body and high alcohol; fruit is now in the background although still black cherry and black plum; a decent amount of oak with cedar, cigar box, and tobacco but nicely integrated. Violets and thyme/sage on the back palate; medium finish wish keeps this wine from being outstanding; at 15.8% alcohol, this must be exclusively from the valley floor vineyards

Pretty similar to previous notes. So enticing, the acidity was perhaps more apparent with this example. This really delivers.

This is just starting to open for business, and is a full-bodied goddess. Decanted for an hour. Blackberry, cassis, roasted garlic, sassafras, blueberries, granite and black pepper. The palate shows no secondary nuances, but is very approachable, with layered, velvety tannins. The length and lift add the needed elegance; there’s so much backbone and will age quite well. Decadent and elegant. A true wonder. Drink now - 2035.

Dark crimson/purple colored. Took a little effort to coax the bouquet from the glass, but once it opened up it was almost as much fun to smell as it was to taste. Dark blue/black fruits with hints of cassis and chocolate, with a long, full finish. Still some drying tannins left, so it has plenty of life left in it and is just hitting the beginning of its prime drinking window. Found this for $90 at Costco and am glad …

One hour decant. Lots of charcoal, leather, and dark fruit on the nose. Plenty of cassis and pencil lead across a long finish. Well balanced, and in a good spot for early drinking. Enough stuffing to go another 10-15 years, too. Nice wine.

Decanted for 90 minutes then consumed over 3 hours. Not a showy wine with any kind of overreach, this bottle delivered pure Napa Cabernet in a straightforward and elegant manner. A terrific sense of acid drives the finish.

NC Cindy Tasting, June 2013 (Phredd's Humble Abode) : The first thing one notices about this wine is the bottle. The full bottle must weigh more than 4 pounds. The glass is ridiculously thick, and the weight makes it a challenge to pour. Once in the glass, it is dark, but not black - somewhere between the Caymus and the Diamond Creek. The nose is blackberry, but with a distinct overtone of rye cracker. It's an interesting combination. On the …

Decanted two hours prior to drinking. Aromas of meat, leather and dark fruits when opened. Big, bold wine. Flavors of cassis, currant and leather. Very little oak. Definitely not a fruit forward Napa Cab, but more like a Bordeaux Cab blend. Chewy tannins and strong structure. Not the type of Napa Cab I prefer, but still a very enjoyable wine. Paired nicely with our steaks.

Med deep ruby - now at hour four after decanting, it is jammy and reductive, with alcohol and stewed aromas alongside the ripe fruit notes - more or less the same on the palate, just a little OTT, lacking freshness and cut - flavour profile runs past ripe cassis to plummy and overripe, stewed notes - still some tannins on the back end which cinch up the finish - a bit disjointed - not bad, but not our style - …

Big, bold, bordeaux style blend. Lots of dark fruits with some bite at then end. If you drink now, needs at least 2 hour decant. Best after 7-10 years in the cellar.
