Certainly not for everybody, but a funky complexity with fruit, earth and brush with very bright acidity. Medium finish. Drink over the next few years.

High-toned, bright red fruit, very interesting...but the acid does start to overtake after it's been open after an hour. Drink now.

Opened and decanted, though it didn't sit for long as dinner was ready. Aromas of black fruit, candied black cherry and black raspberry with pepper and meaty undertones. The palate hints at blue fruit with a nice peppery spice coming in on the finish...really nice acidity here too. Made for a very nice pairing with a couple of ribeyes.

Distinctively fruit forward. Generally enjoyable.

Not a tasting note per se as I forgot to concentrate enough to remember (I'm posting about a week after I drank these). Had the '11 and '12 mourvedre side by side and the 12 won out decisively - more weight, more balance and better flavors. This was a gift from Paul and I opened it in a lineup of Rhone varietal wines which did not come from the Rhone Valley. Deep red black color. Notes of currant, smoked black fruit and pepper. Medium to full bodied. 89-90 points.

Different, but very nice
