young claret that didn’t knock me off my feet, decanted and aerated for 5 hours to get away from the beastly tannins and punchy red fruit nose. but afterwards i found a wine that wasn’t afraid to be young and exciting once the edge had been taken off, snd it started to show signs of a wine that would age nicely and reveal notes of baking spices and vanilla. i would recommend keeping this for a while as it could …

Nose is filled with bright black plums, ripe gooseberries, toasted bell pepper, oregano and some licorice. Balanced and fruit forward for a Bordeaux. Palate showed more fresh bell pepper and black fruits notes. Medium-bodied structure, plummy and a touch of inky note on the finish which can be longer. Tannins are prominent but not green. A few more years of bottle aging will settle and open up the aromatics more.

This wine freaked me out. I can’t believe how good it was. Mid weight cassis, berry fruit, some developing cedar and forest floor. A balanced and dry fuzzy finish. It improved as we drank it. All this for under $20 Canadian.
