Dr. Pauly-Bergweiler Erdener Treppchen Riesling Spätlese

Very nice vintage Riesling showing some complexity from the long ageing. Intriguing delicate nose of honey, aniseed, ripe orange and mint, it reminded me of the 1994 Karl Erbes Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Auslese, but less intense. Hint of wet stones minerality, but not as defined as the Ratzenberger Riesling I had before. Nice classical Riesling with hints of petrol and a little citrus rind. Off dry with a reasonable length but it lacked either the acid backbone or the minerality to put this over 90 points.
