Red fruits, plenty of tannin, funk, green herbiness that I enjoy but some others dislike. Maybe most divisive wine of the day. But for me, B+

Nice. Sharp, edgy, and peppery. Much leaner than I remember in the fruit department.

Lovely, brightly feminine, floral. Ready and just in a great place vs a year ago.

Actually it's the L'Arpent Rouge made from Pineau d'Aunis grape. Slightly hazy semi-translucent garnet color which is to be expected since wine is unfined and unfiltered. Aromas of flower, lots of flowers, earth and ripe strawberries. Palate showed more flowers and something like slightly sweetened root beer followed by earthy forest floor mixed with strawberry flavors. A good minerally iron streak girds the wine from beginning to ending a moderate finish with iron mixed with strawberries. Wine was still fresh …

Somewhat dulled in comparison to my last bottle, both in the vibrancy of the fruit and its acidic edge. Still tasty stuff, but I preferred it when it wasn't so soft.

It's got tannins, it's got acids, it's got fruit, it's got weeds -- killer Cabernet.

Always my go-to CRB, and my favorite by a mile among the '06s, as well as having more personality and upfront deliciousness than the 2005 had this time last year. This is sweeter, fruitier, and more fleshy than the Cuvee Cot '06 but has that acid spine, vise of tartness, and pepper streak I love about this wine. Classic CRB!

Dinner Chez Pelz : Opened 2 hours in advance and "audouzed". Went great with food and showed off its dark fruit while simultaneously keeping a very earthy, leathery, and minerally counter-balance. Medium bodied wine that looks like it should really be a heavy-weight. Has lots of finesse...I love this, but one has to like barnyard notes in wine.

Dark ruby color; Tasted double blind and I was way off. To me it looked like Pinot but had acidic cranberry and floral flavors. I ruled out Pinot but couldn't even guess the variatal or origin (although again clearly European). There was definitely brett in this wine but it was not overpowering. Nice but it didn't do much for me.

clear, med intensity, ruby, pale watery miniscus nose: very smooth and velvety, medium intensity, berry aroma, tart, like fresh squeezed violets, a touch of cranberry palate: dry, acid medium, tannin medium, body, medium -, alc med, length med + flavors of cranberry, rose petals, geraniums, very floral with red berries, tannin is just enough to give the somewhat med minus body some zing ... have this with pasta with a mushroom sauce ... actually, pasta is much better than chicken …

Dark ruby color with purple hue. Superb, rustic nose of violets, roses, raspberry, smokey meats, and black currants. Extremely smooth, chocolaty texture and silky, rich mouthfeel. Shows a tiny bit of minerality on the mid-palate, but is definitely not tight. If anything, this is entirely open for business. Nice berry, earth, smoked meat, and tobacco flavors lead into a medium length finish. What a great wine...especially taking into account the ridiculously affordable price. I also would like to mention that …

Another solid QPR from Clos Roche Blanche. A nose of smoky berry fruit, earth, violets, and a hint of tobacco. Medium-bodied. Smooth attack/texture. Pronounced minerality on the palate which is still somewhat tight. Bright acidity, significant late showing tannins.

Another selection from my birthday box of geek wines picked out by Mrs. Greenblanket. Wow, I have always known that I married several notches up but I never figured that I had hooked up with a wine goddess! This is serious Loire cab franc with a bouquet of violets (even at a cool serving temp) tobacco, shoe leather and red fruits. The palate is tight and minerally with solid acidity and serious ripe tannins. This wine was great on the …

Medium-bodied. Cherry and berry fruit, good acidity and solid tannins on the finish. Very good stuff, and still one of the best red wine bargains around, but not up to the level of the truly outstanding 2005 vintage of this wine .
