Opened at Caprice in HK. Slow-oxed for 2h+ before serving. This was unfortunately much more closed than the same bottle enjoyed a few months ago with many of the same crew. Even parking this to the side and letting it breathe in the glass didn't help it along too much, and I guess this bottle just needed more time. Such is wine, these things happen, and thanks to P for sharing. Onto the next!

Opened at Caprice in HK. Slow-oxed for 3h before serving. This was amazing, and is one of the best village wines that I've ever had. Pristine condition and a fully open 2005, with immense concentration but also a lovely range of fruit and sweetness on the nose that comes with a hint of age. Very clean, still fresh and highly energetic, and frankly outperformed the Jayer VR '94 alongside it. Enough said, really. Just a shame these bottles are so …

The one with D in town (D&L, TC) : First time trying Truchots. This took a while to get going frankly but when it did, there was nice tones of red plums, cranberries, menthol, sage, aniseed and crushed violets. Palate had good length and concentration, and good balance but seemed to be lacking a little magic and finesse. Perhaps still too tight and youthful or perhaps I expected a bit too much?

Nice with spice, black pepper, and fruit in the background. Silky and lovely. Went beautifully with the food at Little Park especially the delicious duck.

I had a heck of time extracting the cork. Thank you Ah so. Drinking well with lots of acidity,juicy, cranberries, and minerals. Very nice and was well matched to our braised chicken.

I had intended to drink this right on release but the Gevrey-Chambertin showed so awkwardly that I had to put it away for a little bit. I didn't know then that Jacky Truchot's retirement and the intensifying cultiness would make his wines as scarce and impossible to find as water in the desert.
