Not my taste in Cognac. It's nothing like their XO: too heavy, even over the top. Perhaps it goes better with a cigar, too bad I quit those.

To be clear: Cordon Bleu is NOT a grande champagne cognac, as it includes plenty of borderies in the blend, but I didn't want to create a new entry and confuse things. Cordon Bleu is...okay. It's certainly more interesting than anything from the other big guys, and has a real borderies character, with walnut and floral qualities. It's also rather sweet and simple, and I'll take the M. Surrenne Borderies Galtaud over it anyday.

Wow, awesome stuff. Nose of caramel, dried fruit and butterscotch. Smooth as silk and wonderfully complex. It is not as unique in character as some of the single vineyard or vintage cognac/Armagnacs, but unbelievably rich and sophisticated. Comparable to the Pierre Ferrand Selection de agnes (a 30 year old blend). Out of the big name cognac producers, Remy Martin may command a higher price, but Martell is more interesting.
