WCC White Burgundy Blind (Yono's Restaurant, Albany, NY) : [This was a ringer inserted for fun. It had been decanted into a Burgundy bottle in the late afternoon. Morillon is the Austrian name for Chardonnay.] Another young wine, but this one clearly saw more oak. Bill thought it might be from California. It does seem to fit that style more, especially compared to the other wines in this flight. Lots of vanilla and citrus in the nose. Lovely, crisp, and …

WCC White Burgundy tasting (Yono's, Albany) : I'm with vulgar little monkey on this one. Really nice wine with bright fruit (I noted pear and citrus) and a light mineral edge, some faintly toasty notes on the nose hinting at some oak as well, zippy acidity beneath. But at the price, LOLNO. I'll have to try the base Morillon/Chardonnay soon as I like the raw materials and overall balance here, but this bottling is a terrible value.

This is a very unique wine in my experience. No way I would have guessed Chardonnay blind - but I really don’t know what I would have guessed. The nose does have some white pear and oak of top drawer new world Chardonnay. However, the color is light and the palate is linear and mineral infused. Some citrus. The depth belies the body. Maybe Chardonnay made like a top Riesling GG. Super cool. Something to drink on occasion and requires …

New oak, Galia melon, lemon and a little smoky on the nose. On the palate similar aromas, with good intensity. Medium+ silky body, delicious mouthwatering acidity and good length. Really lovely Chardonnay.

Lovely. Plenty of yellow fruits and a bit of floral lift. Nice shape and cut, decent acidity. It seems like it might see a bit of wood, but it is well integrated and doesn't stand out just add a hint of spices. If this was cheaper, I might be more interested, but the value proposition just isn't there for me. I'd like to try one of the cheaper cuvées if it crosses my path.

I just didn't get into it as much as the other reviewers. Mostly tart white wine with minerals

Südsteiermark Mini Tasting; 4/15/2023-4/18/2023 (Südsteiermark) : Peach, vanilla. Very powerful, juicy fruit in the mouth. Not quite lean but steely and cool. Long finish. Excellent

A stony flinty citrus fruit driven nose. Intense yet seemingly only light to mid weighted, it's tightly coiled not giving up much at first. With some air jasmine and asian pear come out. A wine of contrasts adding to a greater whole. Toothsome yet with a gossamer texture and laser sharp detail. Lacy yet deep and intense. Yum

Blind Chardonnay Shoot-Out (Cru and Domaine, Portland OR) : The nose is deep and poised with layered tones of Red apples, spiced pears, nougat, lemon peels, creams, vanilla beans, buttered bread, mineral notes, and tidal pool aromas. There is real gravitas to the tones that is a lot of fun to smell. The Medium/full bodied feel is textured and deep with balanced, medium acidity. The feel is polished and poised with a real lovely and long finish. This was a …

The Zieregg vineyard is Tement's local mountain. It has become world-famous due to the extraordinary achievements of the family. It is characterized by coral limestone and limestone weathering rock, which was formed in a former mighty coral reef. The vineyard is situated at an altitude of 330 to 490 meters. The Morillon (Chardonnay) growing on it comes from 40-year-old vines from the oldest part of the Zieregg. The wine was fermented spontaneously to a residual sugar of 1.1 grams with …

Lunch at Tim Raue (Berlin) : Very rich and ripe nose. Thick and creamy in the mouth with oak rather than acidity to keep the balance. In some ways the opposite of my normal tastes but quite interesting and not cloying, nor has it much sweetness.
