Clear deep ruby; clean medium plus nose of blueberry compote, cassis, vanilla, graphite and slight balsamic; dry; high acidity; medium plus tannins; high alcohol; medium plus body; medium plus to pronounced flavour intensity; palate is tarter with addition of cocoa and dried fruit; long finish; absolutely stunning - drinking really well now; has the structure to keep aging but why wait?; velvety, silky goodness

Ether and plum on the nose. On the palate, currant, black cherry, and notes of plum, black pepper, tobacco, and menthol on the medium to long finish, with moderate to strong tannins and moderate acidity. This was an average to good value at about $80.

From magnum. Deep ruby with reflections of purple, fading just a touch at the rim. An appealingly savory, if not complicated wine, this offers aromas of ripe black fruit, dried mint, topsoil, burnt charcoal, asphalt and a generous amount of oak spice. Medium to full bodied on the palate with medium+ acidity, a medium+ level of slightly firm, slightly chewy but not obtrusive tannins. This is not overdone and really quite good for what it is.

Drinking well now, perhaps even in it’s prime. N&N notes are on point. Berry, cedar, earthy undertones on nose. Cherry, ripe plum, bramble berry and earthy flavors. Well balanced and integrated. Overall it was rich with strength and structure. Finish was lengthy with fine tannins.

Dark fruit, cherry, earthy. Nicely balanced cab, robust and elegant. Drinking nicely after a decant, can benefit from some more rest.

Decanted an hour, fruit still muted. Probably could have gone another few years on the cellar.

I’m concerned about accuracy of previous reviews. My bottle is not cooked nor corked. Spent 3 hours trying to get something more from this wine every 15 minutes and was left disappointed. This wine needs far more time as it clings onto its tightness with a strong grip. Black cherry is predominant as an initial fruit, touch of raspberry. Tannins come in quick and strong. Leather on the back for the first couple of hours, turning to slightly more limestone …

This is a very nice wine. Very ready to drink after a 20 minute decant. No sediment. Would score this higher but it lacked the mouthfeel I like, felt a little "thin" on the palate. Accordingly, QPR only so-so in my opinion.

Just a terrific wine. Dark cherry and cassis. Hints of herbs, leather and chocolate. Extremely smooth on the finish. So well crafted.

Decanted for 2 hours. Deep, dark and brooding. Full bodied and yummy to the core. Drinking well right now with the potential to pick up another point or two in say 3 to 5 years with added complexity. Drink or hold.

A little too much sweet oak for me. Nonetheless jammy and easy to drink with tannin and acid in check. With all of the Nickel Cabs needs 3-4 years.

I should have heeded my own advice after recently having some other 2014 cabs - this wine is not in the best place right now. Dark ruby/purple fruit - blackberry, dark currants, dark cherry, and a little dark raspberry. Smooth mid-palate with decent depth, however, the flavors came across somewhat muted/flat. In addition, the finish was disappointing- fairly short and a little tannic/tart. Slow ox for four hours and drank out of a decanter for a couple more. Improved a …

Far Niente dinner at Boulder. Loads of dark fruit with hints of tar, violet and graphite. Tannins are still front and center as you would expect, but I think time will be beneficial and balance will emerge. 92+

Notes of graphite, charcoal, raspberry, blackberry, baking spice, caramel, sweet herbs, green bell pepper, touch of anise. Very fresh with bright acid and quite plump, juicy, and opulent on the front end...remarkably devoid of perceived tannin (especially upon first opening). With a couple of hours of air, a little weight from the front palate shifts to the mid palate, giving rise to a bit more structure. Overall, a really fun and approachable wine to drink, especially right out of the …

Drank this next to the 2013 O'Shaughnessy Mt. Veeder and I preferred the Mt. Veeder over the Hayne bottle of Nickel. I realize this conflicts with the RP tasting notes, but the Hayne was austere and had a green herb note to it that was hard to ignore. Don't get me wrong, this is a great bottle of wine, but my guess is it should be decanted for at least two hours or allowed to rest in the cellar for …

"The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Hayne Vineyard, which like its siblings is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, comes from the base of the Mayacamas Mountains in St. Helena. Easily the blackest and most saturated in color of the Nickel & Nickel Cabernet Sauvignons, the wine is rich and concentrated, with loads of blueberry and blackberry fruit, some licorice, graphite, and a full-bodied, opulent mouthfeel. This is sensational stuff that should drink beautifully for the next 20-25 years.

Dark purple fruit - blackberry, dark currants, and dark cherry. Really smooth mid-palate coupled with a nice purity and vibrant flavors of dark berries and some spice box. However, the fruit came across a little lighter than expected in consideration of Parker's 95 rating (medium body). Decent finish but not overly long nor deep. Drank at a club/restaurant so it was popped/poured. Drank over around two hours and improved quite a bit with time - the fruit filled-out more mid-palate …

Incredible bottle of napa cabernet sauvignon. Some tannin's are there...aromas of fresh black berries. cherry and plum flavors blend with a hint of French oak. I would definitely buy again. This is perfect example of a traditional cabernet Sauvignon.

Decanted for two hours. Deep garnet in the glass. Black cherry predominates on the nose with tobacco, cocoa, oak, molasses, and a floral element. Very smooth and easy entry on the palate where the wine slowly reveals dark cherry, leather, cigar box, and cocoa flavors, punctuated with a very brief hint of cherry Life Saver on the finish. Everything here is nicely balanced, from the fruit -- which is not too extracted -- to mild acidity to soft tannins. This …

Very big, and there is some substance to it, even that New World kind of all elements amped to full decibels balance. Likely to knock out the taste buds for a while.
