Definitely beginning to turn downhill, so I am so happy we caught it in time to enjoy it for the last of its glory. Perfect acidity, a fair amount of fruit, rich brioche and an ever present amount of oxidation.

I say this was over the hill. Just flat on the palate, but the nose shows a very rich, nutty henriot style...but I got a little wet cardboard too, which I thought was a touch of cork taint. Anyway, dead on the palate.

Wine-pages Glasgow Festival of Wine Pre Offline (Cail Bruich, Glasgow) : Possibly suffered a little coming after a couple of bottles of Krug 1990. Much paler colour, and nowhere near as giving on the nose, although there's some bruised apple pungency. It feels quite flat on the palate, with little interest. Doesn't really do it for me.

Fra magnum. Forførende nese av deiligste søtbakst og gulfrukt. Nydelig mousse.

This was excellent. Still very fresh and lively. Much more enjoyable than a 96 drank a month or so ago. Very complex aromas, earth, butterscotch, nuts and lemon. Wonderful balance and finish. Had this with a egg yolk stuffed ravioli, sage brown butter and shaved black truffle... simply one of the most amazing food and wine matches I have ever had. This wine seems to be in a very good spot to drink now.

From magnum. Loved by all ... appropriately softened by age, with wine characteristics coming through. Soft mousse, early brioche with a nice creme brulee on the mid-palate ... slight hints of almonds.

Leisurely Easter Lunch (Napa Valley) : Impressively light. Light, frothy, full of fresh lemon and incipient secondary notes, low level of perceptible sweetness. Poised, balanced, and simply excellent.

Fall Fest 2008 : nose: wonderfully delicious nose with lemon mousse tones, figs, vanilla cream notes, green apples, and some nice minerality hiding in there taste: silky and smooth with wonderful effervescance providing beautiful and rounded tones of lemon mousse, vanilla cream, green apples, and loads of baking spices overall: This is probably at its peak right now. The bubbles were on point with wonderful flavors abounding. Silky lemon mousse attack that just caressed the palate and slid into a …

Bob Gaynor - Night of Excess! : Delicious bubbly - and right where I like them. Still lots of verve and power but with a nicely evolved flavor profile. White fruits, citrus, biscuits and a pleasant yeasty note. Very crisp with a small, prickly bead. Excellent and just too easy going down.

1996 Horizontal, with Chef de Cave from Henriot, Moet and Roederer (London) : 49% CH 51% PN. From Jero Reductive nose, clear sulphur, full bodied attack but that level of reductive sulphur is not going to die away.

We opened this about 10 minutes to midnight and I am finishing the last glass at 3:30. Best Champagne of the night (ok there was only two) Wonderful small bubbles, great nose of yeast, vanilla, nuts with lemon on the finish. There is a little to much acid on the finish which is the only thing keeping this from scoring higher.

Bright and lively appearance; vital and stylish, understated character, lovely balance of Pinot and Chardonnay, well-integrated acidity, elegant character of fruit and flowers, some chalky minerality, refined smooth texture. Has aged well, stylish and subtle.
