3 Day Improvements Two Months; 11/27/2025-1/12/2026 : Day 1: Natural cork. Full of flavor with white pepper, spices, garrigue, dark currants, minerals, crushed rocks and floral notes. Medium finish and a touch of heat on the first glass but blew off quickly. Really like this wine and could see this improving over a few days. 93 points Day 2: Better for sure. NO heat on day 2 and showcasing white pepper, garrigue, spices, dark fruits, crushed rocks, floral, minerals and …

Deep, aromatic and earthy giving way to cherry, meat, almonds, dirt and spice aroma. Full bodied, medium to high acidity and teeth staining muscular tannins. That one is a beast! NI:5, FI:24, FC:8, B:4, L:4

I last tasted this wine well over a year ago and based on my notes it hasn’t changed a lot, but I think my previous evaluation may have been a touch too kind. The alcohol content has submerged somewhat, but it’s still evident (at 15.5% it isn’t going to go away…ever). The wine is very concentrated and overflowing with a plethora of aromas and flavors. Among these black cherries, plums, and strawberries, with juniper, black tea and black olive elements. …

Good now, will be better in 3-5 years. Very big, blue fruit forward with underpinning garrigue and savory aromas.

Cherry and menthol on the nose. On the palate, black cherry, raspberry, and notes of anise, plum, and earthy spice, with moderate silky tannins, slight alcoholic heat, and strong acidity on the long finish. This was an average to good value at about $50.

Big nose, black raspberry and cherry, full body, silky smooth, good acid, very long finish with a touch of alcohol.

After a lengthy decant of 3 hours this began to round into shape. Oodles of black cherry, blackberry, and plum lead the way on the nose with notes of black licorice, black tea, and allspice. All of this carries on with the fruit coming into prominence on the palate. This is very fresh and bursting with acetic energy that carries into a long finish. The tannins are firm. The mouthfeel is creamy. There’s a lot to like here. This vintage …

Excellent. Hot at first, but when the first whiffs of alcohol dissipated, it was very smooth over the next few hours.

Overall good. a bit closed yet with tannins -- would benefit from age.

Dark fruited and quite ripe. Just a hint of alcohol notes. Lovely dark fruits with garrigue and a bit of spice. Quite strong. Should age well.

Solid wine! Drank with steak and raclette. Quite drinkable but not super notable.

Retasted after one day opening in gabriel's acceptable glass, 15°C. Palate full of old blackberries, cherries nut, kirsch, dried almond, oak sap, strong structure ending noble on half burned green branch, cane-apple honey (specific bitter one) and cold iron blade. A solid 92. With a good potential of ageing. In contrary of my last post.

Pnp, at 16°C in zalto. Intense nose of cherry, almonds, white flowers (i insist), and iron. Mouth silky, cherries, kirsch, liquorice, few tannins, very nice end palate, long. Light structure. Good now, just few more years. A solid 92 now, but not for long. (see next my 1st dec. post with a rectification of this point).

Only had a small taste. Pretty ripe, but balanced and I didn’t get a sense this was overdone. Nice provincial spice box and cedar notes. Definitely forward and lush, but goes down pretty easy

Vinetasters: 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Skokie, IL) : Served double blind. Sickly sweet, modernist, cough-syrupy, high-toned, astringent stuff. My 11th, group's 8th.

Bright, fresh, lusciously textured, elegant red fruits galore here. Add nuances of flowers, spice, kirsch and thyme, ample concentration and a long, silky, supple textured finish and you get the idea. This beauty will age and evolve for 2 decades with no trouble. The wine was produced blending 98% old vine Grenache, with 1% Cinsault and 1% Clairette. Drink from 2024 - 2038
