Alfred Merkelbach Erdener Treppchen Riesling Auslese #7

#05-07, 9% abv. Purchased for the kingly sum of €6 cash from the brothers directly during our visit in 2017. Shows intense botrytis and some fruit that is probably more on the browning side. An odd bitter note on the palate really detracts from this. Not particularly complex but drinking pleasantly and probably more interesting now than later, given the bit of fruit that's still present. Definitely an old school, rustic German style of wine.

Very much mosel. Very much 2006 (botrytis). Nothing to criticize thus, but it lacks a bit of complexity

Absolutely compelling. Smelling this wine made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Bergamot, spice notes, tangerine, cola, musk, wet slate. Plays every note of the register from high to low. Beautiful.

Bevuto come vino dolce con panettone e crema di mascarpone, buono anche se non troppo acido. Come vino da pasto o da solo sarebbe stato terribile

Very sweet without much acidity or definition but with a touch of something bitter and tequilla-like.

Terry Theise Tasting - 2006 Rieslings (Minneapolis) : Light gold color. Honey, white peach, and apple. Nice sweetness, but pretty straightforward and simple for an Auslese. I would have liked a little more raciness and minerality here.
