A fun Cab/Syrah blend from K Vintner. The Cab (79%) dominates with currants, cedar, spice box and a hint of tobacco, but the Syrah adds some smoky complexity and a mellow vibe. Sweet tannins, lush and silky smooth. More leather, earth and spice on the finish. Very enjoyable!

Tasted after 1 hour of air. Medium ruby color. The cherry fruit here is very sweet. It comes across as balanced though due to the firm tannins and medium plus acidity. Not a typical Tempranillo. Some spice. This tastes more like a Syrah than a tempranillo. A lousy QPR. You can get cheap Rioja that is far better than this.

Quick decant. Dry black plum with tobacco leaf, dust, and oak on the nose. Flat black fruit and plum palate coats the tongue but doesn't deliver much else than clay. Black olive brine builds on the finish, adding salinity and acidity before finishing with wet oak. Served with food but didn't find it enjoyable to drink. At minimum, give it a longer decant.

60 minute decant. Nose of jolly rancher candy, black cherry and plum skins. Palate starts with milk chocolate, minerals, and black cherry fruit before strong acidity leads into bright cherry, cranberry and loads of dried herbs. Fluffy tannins, sassafras, cocoa, fresh thyme, and dark purple fruit.

Tasted after 30 minutes of air. Dark ruby color. A bit of smoke on the nose. Tannic cherries. Drying notes. Tight. Another lousy QPR from Charles. They charge double what they should for these wines.
