Stephane Ogier Côte-Rôtie Le Champon

Drinking beautifully from the bottle, no decanting needed, the wine is vibrant, energetic and packed with layers of refined, sweet, fresh, dark red, and black fruits with touches of smoke, thyme, spice, and chalk. The concentrated, long, elegant finish leaves its layers of perfectly ripe fruits long after the wine has left your glass. Drink from 2025-2038.

Young and muscular, needs time for sure and will age well. Very well made, bright and with good restraint on oak and ripeness but just too early to see the full picture here. We would love to cross paths with it when it’s a bit older ( another 5 years for sure will be needed) and we would like to compare it vs the Lancement. Very good still but pointless to rate.

Opened for 2 hours. Color is almost purple/black it’s so dark. On the nose: Pepper, cassis, cherry, violets, olive and beef blood. On the palate: Cassis, kirsch, pepper, baking spices and violets. Silky and sensuous in the mouth. Flavors are broad and long. World class elegant wine. Ready to drink but will last. No sharp edges on this wine.

Les Gobeloteurs Tasting (Domaine Stéphane Ogier - Ampuis) : Tasting, brief note. Further north. Dense and meaty with impressive concentration and depth, but a little backward vs some of the other single vineyard cuvees, so coming across now as less complex, but hinting at impressive potential.

Deep in color, the wine is full bodied, luscious, polished, rich and is loaded with sweet, dense, black cherries and tannin. Full bodied, concentrated and complex, there is depth of flavor here with the structure and raw materials that give it the ability to age and evolve.
