Domaine Jean Grivot Richebourg

40th Birthday Lunch (San Francisco) : Lovely nose with red berries, cherries, a bit of earth, flowers, and just the slightest hint of greenness. Nice acidity on the palate with more red cherries and strawberries, underwood, and lovely depth. Long finish. This is a great wine, not just for the vintage. 96+

SLDS at Quay : Showy aromatics - red lollies, orange peel, spice, cherry, smoke and dark florals - interest and complexity. Strong acid line on the palate, the fruit has power that plays well with this higher pitch style. Feels quite worked but it works!

I was surprised when the bottle was revealed. Richebourg? From 2011? Fine, feminine and perfumed quite airy nose. Palate showed a silky and feminine wine, very fine, with spices and minerals, red berries, good length and finesse. Seemed more like an older, more mature wine from perhaps Chambolle than Richebourg. But don�t get me wrong, this is a great wine indeed, very graceful, sexy and very fine. Lovely balance and fine minerallity. Way to go! (94 � 96)

Already showing some complexity on the nose with warm spices and brilliantly defined red and black Pinot fruits; powerful, sinewy palate. Good weight, very tight. Very seductive. Gorgeous long finish. 94-96+
