Mint and eucalyptus are still in the spotlight, and while the tannins have resolved a bit, they are still quite grippy on night 1. I suspect the second half of the bottle will be a nicer wine tomorrow. Day 2: The minty flavors have moved more in a dark licorice direction, along with increased blueberry jam in the palette. The tannic tension is mostly gone, but it still lacks some cohesion overall. It does have a long finish. For the …

Aromas of damp redwood forest and ripe blackberries. Juicy fruit forward black and red fruit on the palate, with a note of milk chocolate. There’s an uptick of acidity on the finish followed by low tannins. Extracted fruit with little to no tannin structure. It’s good if you like this style. A black bear would love this wine.

Intriguing eucalyptus, tea tree layered with milk chocolate notes. Delicious, great QPR.

Pop and poured this because I had already suffered through enough of the 2007 Quilceda Creek cocktail, so I needed to move along to something else. This random grab from my dN stash proved to be a perfect antidote and it’s hard to believe it was 1/10 the price. Similar to my note from last year, this still has a bright eucalyptus, licorice, and lavender bouquet with additional cherry and mint flavors in the mouth. This is a nice diversion …

Tried based on some recent activity. Was decent on PnP, presenting just a hint of dust and some red fruits. Shutdown hard overnight and didn't wake back up until day three. Seems like these are going to need a few more years Wow day 4 update: Not dead in the slightest, now giving an almost creamy mouthfeel with some floral components taking center stage, lilac and a savory vanilla-esque note that I can't quite place.

Consistent with my last note. Pretty well integrated now. I’d put this up against just about any other $9 bottle out there, at least in the US market

I love this wine for when I'm feeling the cabernet itch but don't necessarily want to open something nice, in case we don't finish the bottle or perhaps it's not an "occasion". Has good fruit, good depth / "dirt" or "wood" / as well as herbal notes. Sooo happy to have this for $9!!

This has been my cellar defender, and it's a pretty darn good one. For $9, really great QPR.

As others have mentioned, an excellent for the price food wine, with eucalyptus and some complexity. It isn't as powerful or full as a Napa Cabernet, but this does the job really well and would be a wonderful weekday pizza wine.

Notes on pop n pour. Very dark purple, 95% opaque with very slow, clear legs. No sediment. The earlier notes of menthol/mint/eucalyptus in the bouquet are still quite present, along with a bit of tea tree oil. However, on the palate, the fruit shows up and fleshes out nicely with bright acidity and light tannins. Definitely not glou-glou as far as Aussie reds go. This has structure and the balance to run long. Might not be a profile that everyone …

More of a food wine and does better with some air. No particularly memorable taste or smell. Has done fine with pasta, chicken, pork, etc. Imagine will do OK with red meat. Worth the almost single digit price.

Way to early to really rate this wine. Deep fruit that is gorgeous and medium bodied currently. Needs time..

Decanted for five hours, then back in the bottle for dinner, and glad I did--this had some *funky* aromas on opening, but settled into something really nice. Complex and exciting on the nose, led by herbs (mint? eucalyptus?) and violets, with some blackberry and a hint of ethanol. Blackberries on the palate as well, along with red apples (??) and a bit of molasses. Slightly sugarier than I prefer in this style, but not offensively so. Plenty of tannins to …

Day 1 Aerated into decanter to speed up aeration Dark purple/dense appearance in the glass Initial aromas of dark fruits with heavy cedar/mint/eucalyptus spice aromas Taste: somewhat flat/dull (perhaps not enough air time). Heavy mint/Eucalyptus flavors, minimal fruits. Much Better with air & food Day 2 - paired with Spicy Asian flavors Much better flavors, less cedar, more dark fruit flavors. More mellow, less "sharp" spice. Some tartness; subtle fruits. Seems thin despite the dark rich colors. Agree with other …

Opened it too warm and initial impressions were jammy and a little hot. Things settled down nicely at cellar temp. Inky purple, medium plus body, blackberry and dark fruit, well balanced with some acid. Light tannins. A little eucalyptus and some graphite. Made me think of a Bordeaux that went on vacation down south. Updated with Cam's notes so I can find them: Opaque in the glass but not quite squid ink - just a little garnet around the rim. …

Drank over 2 days. First day ~3 hour open decant followed by ~6 slow-ox. Definitely opened up on the second day, and seems to have a good long way to go. Forgot to type this up day-of, so notes are a copy of handwritten scribbles. Opaque purple; Marangoni in full form. Nose somewhat restrained, initially oak-dominated, blew off in ~1 hour or so. A bit of alcohol present on the nose. Blackberry, minor red fruit, some baking spice, or dried …
