Same exact experience as Ziavino. A different wine on day 2. Mostly primary. Lots of time left, at least through the early 2030’s. Turing out be an excellent value!

PnP, and the first few glasses were simplistic with notes of black cherry and oak leading the way. Saved half the bottle for day two and it really shined. Notes of black cherry, black licorice, dark chocolate and tar coalesced throughout, with a dollop of integrated oak. This will still be great in another 10 years, if not longer.

It's been 1000 days since I last drank this vintage. NOSE: peppermint followed by piercing sensations of blackcurrant, elegant little ruptures over a reflective surface of ink. Plunging into the latter I find elements of fine oak, preservative oil, cherry juice, and dark roast coffee. The arrangement is slackened and accessible for browsing—perhaps amounting to dilution for a cynic. MOUTH: discretely textured flavors are dense and impacted in a way that stands in contrast to the aromatic front. Adhesive tannins …

Decanted 45 min. Delicious red fruit. Smooth tannins provide excellent structure. Just a wonderful wine.

This is a really wine that pops and pours great! Dark red almost purple opaque. Dark cherry, a little cocoa? Very smooth, easy finish. Really nice drinking, especially at this price. Great example of an excellent value Ribera. And great match with red meat cooked simply/grilled!

Dark berries, vanilla, tomato leaf. I didn’t think the wood was overbearing. Very good QPR. Score : 88. Relative to expectations: ++

it's a really drinkable wine with solid value for its price point--easily a $50-60 bottle...medium-bodied, nice fruit, well-balanced, with some nice tannins...

Opened by Mark. Made from organically grown 25 year old Temperanillo vines. I previously had the 1999 and 2014 vintages. Deep purple color. Full bodied with heavy black fruit notes together with licorice, oak and cassis. 93 points

A nose of dark fruit and spice, dark purple in color. A medium to full bodied red, with blackberry, cassis, chocolate and spices on finish, still very young but still good now. www.winelx.com

too much. Too much fruit, too much body. Overwhelms food. Not my thing.

All about the bass Loam, chocolate, vanilla, asphalt and cinnamon Some blackberry and black plum to save one from being buried alive Big, soft, fun, but agree with both 6/24/22 members: finish muy corto To blatantly cadge from the 1/7/22 note: linen. Thanks, it was unlikely to occur to me anytime soon & thanks to my brother for gifting me this excellent wine, which went very well with rice and beans cooked in mushroom stock, and into which mango salsa …

at its best, it is dense, viscous with nice layering and youth--boysenberry, anise, dark cherry...other recent bottles a little bit more tart/sour and uneven

Cherry, Oak, and Tannins. It is OK but I feel the juicy fruit covers a lot of flaws. Things that kill the fruit expose the flaws. Second day it was tasting worse. Just had it with chicken picante (not the best paring) and it was not good. I should try it with a steak as it was intended.

really solid, amazing for the price--will never complain...some sour cherry/tomato fruit....raspberry, dark fruit accents...linear, medium-bodied, nicely layered.

Ready to please. Oak treatment is a bit overwrought. This is all baking spice and vanillin. Palate becomes a bit tired after a while. Crowd pleaser, I'm sure.

Distant Cousins? Well after I purchased today’s wine, but around the same time as my drinking said wine, I discovered a fascinating, and little know (at least to me) fact about the grape used in this wine. Tempranillo. First, let me introduce you to the wine I became so enthralled with: Valderiz Ribera del Duero 2018 Let’s get the technical out of the way. A blend of 95% Tinta del país (another name for Tempranillo, but in Ribera del Duero …

Medium purple color. Notes of chocolate-covered cherry, dried leaves, vanilla, bell pepper, parmesan and rose petal. Smooth and juicy on the palate, medium-full bodied. Savory and earthy at the same time, with cherry and vanilla flavors framed by chalky tannins. Young and approachable.

Plum, a little savory, crushed gravel nose Light medium body and fairly light dryness, really packs a punch in the front end. Chocolatey and really tasty, moreso in front than back.

Very detectable oak on nose and palate. Strong and intense. Red and black fruited. Personally i'd like a little more elegance here. Paired w/ grilled steaks, which is an appropriate match.
