This wine was on the edge or slightly past its peak and yet still quite enjoyable. Deep garnet, with on the nose a touch of barnyard funk, earth, blackberries, cassis as well a hint of vanilla. Medium to full-bodied, with on the palate ripe black fruits, loamy dirt, spices, roasted herbs, a touch of sweet oak with well-balancing acidity, integrated tannins as well as notes milk chocolate on the long and rich finish. Much better than bottle recently opened leading me to believe that the previous bottle was an exception (maybe corked?). Still at the downside of its maturity and not recommended much longer. Hints of baked chocolate.
