Chase Zinfandel Reserve Hayne Vineyard

Nose of dusty blackberry, roobios tea, hot asphalt, dried flowers, and mace. Powerful push of brambly blueberry, blackberry, and boysenberry fruit on the palate followed by fireplace ash, dried thyme, dried lavender, and spruce notes. Thick tannins still show some chew on the finish with is still brambly but trends towards the red fruit side with cherry, red licorice, and long soft lingering oak delivering a long finish. Tannins might extend themselves but it's in a sweet spot now.

Decanted for over 30 minutes. This is definitely my style Zin - not too heavy body, dry, big red fruit, smooth tannins, but nice spice. Derp dark purple color, no translucence. Nose of over ripe plums, bing cherries, dark chocolate, and hint of baking spices. Just a tad over medium bodied, but not too heavy. Jammy raspberries, cherries and plums; light cinnamon; black pepper. Tannins almost throughout, but nice smooth and dry. Lingers on back of palate with black pepper …

Drank on Christmas eve with dinner. Terrific wine. So big, but also incredibly polished.

Fruity. Needs to open

Big bruising style of Zin. A whole bushel of bramble berries, baking spices, tea and menthol. The palate bursts with dark cherry and pie crust overlaying a beautifully integrated core of cocoa powder and dusty earth, before finishing with velvety tannins. No notes. It's pretty brawny and tannin driven though it's still fun to drink. It's a monster and I really should hold this one longer to see how it evolves.

Big, powerful, and bold... but still polished. This certainly can hold but if you want a big, baller wine you can have on its own, it's pretty good right now!

Excellent zin would benefit frim another couple of years

Really good, but no detailed notes. So big and bold that holding for a bit longer isn't a bad idea.

Very nice wine. More in the claret style - it tastes so much like a cab. Ripe and fruity, but restrained. Integrated tannins and a nice touch of piecrust on the finish.
