Fine bottle of wine, plenty of oak in the nose, green apple, gentle malo acidity, oak notes with butterscotch in the finish. A little of the grapefruit and stone borrowed from a NZ SB. The only thing time might do is mellow that oak a bit but I’m not sure that would be a benefit. Drink any time.

Lamont's, Smith Beach, WA Australia. Nose detailed notes. Appeared less oaky and rich than the 09 a few days before. Could it be a change in style was already under way? Quite kaleidoscopic and complex in a neutral non intently reductive style. Neutral weight leaning medium rich.

This is a medium straw yellow colored wine. Thanks to the screwcap this wine shows no sign of oxidation either in color or flavor. The palate is loaded with tropical fruits, melon and pineapple. The body is full to go along with a persistent intensity. This wine has a silky consistency to go along with a solid structure. The wine is very balanced with fresh acidity, a light touch of oak, and a perfect 13.5% alcohol. This is an opulent …

2018 Leeuwin Estate Chardonnay thought I'd pop a TN here because, simply put, this is an absolute legend in the making. drinking well despite its young age (well, very young for a LEAS CHARDONNAY), this now gets my vote as the best of this most prestigious line. (IMO only second to Grange for its long term excellence and consistency) a powerful, complex and utterly majestic wine without peer for me in this vintage. Stunning, greeted by general "wows" around the …

Aussie, Aussie Aussie Part 2 at Lori's (Lori's House Twin Cities) : Day 1: Electric Chardonnay with lemon, spice, wood, grapefruit, tropical fruit, stone and white flowers. Outstanding effort. 94+ Day 1:25: So had this at the end of the tasting and off the charts. Warmer serving temperature and much better. Needed some air and it delivered. Stone, tropical fruit, wood, spice, white flowers, dust, orange peel, lemon, minerals and vibrant acidity. Just changed and improved and really hard to …

Excellent wine. Blind tasted with high end Burg and Cali Chards; was closer to the Cali but a lovely middle ground

Popped and poured. Another excellent showing from this wine that is still very young. Explosive and intense citrus fruit unfurls on the palate, with a dose of oak and struck match reduction that resolves graduallly in the glass. This is excellent now but could improve even more with age.

Stone fruits with candied citrus peel and rich almond butter, so plenty ripe but also bright and energetic. Very good length with unfolding flavors and textures. 92-93 points.

This was very very good. Rich, powerful and focused yet very elegant. Intensely citrusy (lemon and melon) with a very slight herbaceous note. There is a clear and distinct oak influence. Given time, the power remained but the oak resolved slightly and the buttery and saline notes came forward. This is great now but it definitely has the bones to age for a long time and it will only improve as the oak continues to settle.

First time of tasting the estate, and had heard anecdotally so many great things, that I was champing at the bit to try this. I had been recommended to give this a lot air before drinking, and I actually decanted it for a couple of hours. This seemed to pay dividends, as the over acidity dissapated in the glass after a few minutes. After reading Kevin H.'s note, I immediately picked up the dominance of lime, in a a citrus …

Understated, judiciously oaked, with a vegetal note I associate with this wine. Lovely weight & balance. Likely to fill out with more time.

My first time with this wine and one I’ve wanted to try for a while. Pale colour still. The nose has some Puligny-like leaf mould showing but the limes in there suggest this could only be from Australia. Still a young wine but fine, complex citrus driven flavours. Classy stuff. There was a touch of smokiness on the finish.

Still some upside. Nicely restrained on the oak; with just hints of espesso. Offers initially a lot of citrus peel (lemon) and subtle orchard fruits (peach) and tropical (mango/pappaya) that shows no new world exaggeration of ripeness. Clearly, winemaking wishing to be more White Burgundy and CA Buttery Style. Did not find the Malo Lactic to be excessive; nor lacking acidity. Flavor showed mild sweetness from the oak; along with medium fruit concentration. Acidity is very lively; and it classifies …

Orchard, almost tropical, fruit mediated by a bright acidity that doesn't tame the richness but keeps this lively. Good.

This wine was buttery and lactic, with a dollop of French oak. Grand in scale and not nearly as reduced as the 2009, I can see this really performing in a blind lineup.

Pop and pour. On the nose: sea salt, peach, tangerine, and a hint of iodine. On the palate: glorious acidity, excellent palate density, iodine, wet stone, soft grapefruit and kumquat, tangy finish. Lovely.

New World meets Old for this Chard. Light on the oak and mako, with a mix of mostly ripe but some slightly green apple. Very nice wine.
