Meulenhof Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett

Opened this as last bottle for Thanksgiving at home and barely touched by mostly newbies. Recorked and refrigerated and tried from time to time over following 10 days. Golden yellow. Nose of slate and peaches. Held up over time. Seems like it has a lot of life left. Nice palate of crushed stones and peaches with a hint of petrol, but sweeter than I would have expected from a kabinett.

Straw in color with a golden hue. Nose of apple cider and fresh peaches. Tastes of ripe peaches, Granny Smith apples, hints of limestone and lemon zest. Lovely purity of fruit and balance. A substantial kabinett that taste like a young spatlese. Many years ahead. A great QPR priced around $12 in early 2000s.

Would never have guessed this kabinett is 11 years old. Still drinking as if only a few years old. Plenty of acidity to last another 5 to 10 years and enhance the nose, which is a bit muted right now (slight tangerine nose, pronounced grapefruit finish).

Fully mature and in a beautiful place right now. Balanced, great acidity, pure. Wish I had bought a lot more of this.

lite crisp and refreshing, drank fast wasn't overly sweet.
