On the palate quite fresh, good tension, round and balanced. Very mineral, beautiful sweet fruit and still some citrus notes. Good length. Drink now. 93

Golden straw colour, lovely clear thick legs. A nose with kerosine, honeysuckle and candied citrus. The palate has restrained acidity, but is not overly sweet either. It's certainly balanced, an oily consistency with a subtle line of acid. I can taste lemon citrus, a little minerality and even some woody notes - it almost tastes a little oaked, but not sure if it actually is? I bought this wine after being absolutely blown away at a tasting some time ago. …

Delightful balance. Lots of fruit. Very persistent finish. Lots to go for.

Wow. This is pretty darn amazing. Ok. There is a reason its great. Its $40.

A truly great dry Rheinhessen Riesling from the Wittmann winery, one of the appellation's top estates, entirely organically farmed. Pure lemon yellow in color with impressive and intense fragrances of juicy citrus fruit, pineapple, peach and also some hints of flint stone. The palate reveals a complex mixture of delicious fruit, a profound minerality and a firm backbone of acidity. Spices, white peach, melon and minerality on the nose. Tight and focused palate. There is fruit richness that is reined in by a beautiful line of acid. Great length, poise and balance. Delicious and even better when paired with food. Wonderful.

tasted January 2009. Good weight; full bodied; long finish. All in all a good food wine, especially for heavier dishes. Should age remorselessly. I bought a case. Weingut Wittmann is an organic producer. I see World of Fine Wine (winter 2008) says "Wittmann presented an incomparable collection of 4 Westhofen GG, including ...a still reticent Aulerde ... August 2008"
