CellarTracker! lists dozens of bottles of this in inventories. The good news is that despite a couple of gloomy reviews, this wine is still good. Probably past its peak, but still enjoyable. I took this to a dinner for six of us, including two others in the Wine Berserkers board. Darke fruit on the nose and dark cherry and dark raspberry on the palate. The acid is distinct, suggesting that some of the fruit has faded. Tasted a little smokey …

ABV: 13.2%. Surprisingly disappointing. Textbook Pinot Noir notes of ripe red fruits (think cranberries, raspberries, and cherries) jumped out of the glass, supported by a hint of Christmas spices. However, the acid fiercely pierced the palate and was completely out of balance with the fruit characteristics. Sadly, the wine didn't evolve towards a more palatable condition over the next 24 hours.

brick, purple color as this is 11 years old....getting a bit old so drink up. with 20 mins of air, nice nuances of seawater, kiwi, strawberries...a little out of balance. I'd drink these sooner rather than later.

Slight bricking. The nose is full as is the midpalate. There is a very nice long finish. Holding well on this bottle. Consumed at room temp.

Well on its way to going. Smelled the cork on opening and largely found acetic acid. Some of it blew off after a few hours, but what was left largely lacked fruit, although hints of cherry still remained. We drank the bottle, but mainly because I just didn't feel like opening a backup. Drink ASAP.

What a treat! Very similar to the last two times I had this (1/07 and 9/07)....my favorite of the MacPhail '04 lineup. Tons going on here.....lots of raspberries, some peppery spice, some orange zest, black cherry, a little cola. Good acidity, smooth, elegant, medium bodied wine. Still tastes fresh and young, wish I had more to see how long this would last. 92-93 pts.

Outstanding. Dark clear garnet. Deep pure black cherry flavors that are smooth and vibrant. Complex and long with spice, wood, sugar on the back.

Clear darker garnet that seems to be evolving more toward raspberry and red fuits from the black cherry of a year ago. Still tinged with spice (cloves) and posessed of great overall presence and balance.

probably a bit early to drink this, but it was fantastic none the less. it was kind of a hybrid between a cali pinot and a great burgundy. It had the nice nose of mushrooms, earth, and even a little dustiness. I really enjoy this nose backed up by a core of dark red fruit, cinnamon, and cloves. Really nice effort.

Decanted for one hour. Appearance was clear ruby, with a strawberry and some kind of woodsy nose. Flavors were deep and veered towards the red fruits with spice and nice oak all with a long finish that kept echoing the complex flavors. Amazingly pleasant drink that was gone way too quickly and a great demonstration of how pinot can be great by being understated and pure.
