Served in Burgundy stemware, this had some reduction on opening that dissipated after about 30 minutes in the glass. Aromatically, this has a prominent sous bois, cranberry, ripe strawberries, and a subtle hint of smoke. I am very much with the last 2 reviewers. Pale, limpid with a little browning of the rim. Nose of sap and just ripe fruit. Complex and fine. Mirrored on the palate. Light but again fine. Burgundy WIMPS #178 28th June 2024 (La Trompette, Chiswick) : Initially a little higher tones that its flight mates this has a lovely red fruit core with hints of grenadine and later some peppered ripe strawberries. Not suffering from the 2010 reticence that some of this vintage have had in recent times. Savoury, food friendly and long.

I bought a case of this wine in about 2012, and while I’ve tried to like it, I never have. I just drank the last bottle, and didn’t like it any more than I did 8 years ago when I opened the first bottle. I think the grapes weren’t ripe enough when picked. After a bottle 14 months ago I decided to give this an hour in the glass before consuming. Beautiful ruby color. In the glass this has generous and aromatic sous bois, fresh red berries, and cinnamon. Vibrant acidity with a very persistent drive. Intriguing nose of hoi sin, raspberries and black pepper. This has charming and well sorted aromatics. Palate has good length and reasonable muscle although does lack a bit of focus on the midpalate. The fruit is joyously tart and the tannins crisp and crunchy. This isn't perfect but there is a lot to like here. Great example of mid level 2010 and is happily drinkable now.

Better than 6mths ago. Left to breathe in bottle for about 2hrs before serving. Still lacking a bit in mid palate concentration and depth but I like the bright fruit and balance. Silky and well integrated tannins. Medium minus finish. May improve with a few more years but enjoyable now.
