Barton & Guestier Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Not the best Chateauneuf in my opinion, lacking density and complexity. The romantic part is also lacking: no romantic local winemaker, but a Bordeaux based investment company buying grapes in all parts of France, including Chateauneuf. Tasted blind I would say a nice Cairanne or Vinsobres, but that not what I am aiming for regarding the price of about 30€. 🛠14,5%Alc 🍇Grenache, Syrah

Much better than first bottle I tasted 6/1/21. 50% gamay, 50% granach. Bolder than Pinot. Mildly Fruit forward with a nice body. Not sophisticated leather though. Great value.

Pleasant and refreshing. On the nose fruity blueberries and berries, but a bit closed and not giving too much away. A deep purple hue and good legs indicate a young and vibrant wine.slight astringency on the attack which subsides to allow the evolution of the classic blueberry, cherry and licorice flavours to push through. The finish is brief giving way to alcohol. So, would I buy it again? Well perhaps. There are nicer wines out there for the money, but …

Good wine. However very short finish. Would be great w pasta dish. Didnt see any improvement when paired w meat
