Kjellerfunn :-) fra Phillipson. PnP glass test. Glass betraktning: Riedel framhever modning aroma. Rikere smak, mindre detaljer. Zalto: Raffinert og spennende. 1 dag: Kanskje best i dag spesielt i Zalto. Mulig svak flaske. Burde drukket denne tidligere. 2 dager: Riedel NWPN. Tydelig modning …

Remarkable 24 years on…leather and stewed fruit, with just the beginning of savory meat

A really compelling and resolved wine. Black fruit, leather, fennel, dried flowers, intense minerals... So layered and multi-faceted. Supple, velvety tannins. Absolutely mesmerizing. Great now, but would easily go another decade or two. It wouldn't necessarily get better. Just different.

don't believe the drinking window on this wine. this wine tasted young last night. tannins are hiding the fruit component but after 3 hours of sips it came open. classic barbaresco with a bit of varietal edge. great typicity albeit a little on the unpolished side and rowdy. decant to enjoy. excellent provenance on this bottle.

PnP Z burgund. Deilig nese, med god modning, medisinskap, mandel/eplefrø, jordbær. Relativt rik smak tørka kirsebær, blod, elegante jorbærnoter. Super til ragu og pasta. Kaffe og tobakk. Fortsatt solide tanniner og fin syre. Litt vanilje. Flott opplevelse

Dinner at Tortello (Chicago, IL) : My favourite nebbiolo of the night -- this is just hitting its stride, with clean red fruit, and plenty of youthful nebbiolo structure. Still feels like there's upside here, but for drinking now I really like the overall balance. In contrast to the 1988 Rabaja, this started to clamp down over the course of the evening, to the point you were getting a lot of tannic intensity on the finish.

Drank from Magnum at L'Antica De Michelle in Los Angeles. Nice leather library potpourri on the nose. Tannins nicely resolved, but still some interesting minty funk. Some ashy, black cherry & floral notes coming through. Very fun to try.

Perfect cork with no travel. I can confirm the other recent notes that this was a tannic beast for many years, and that is indeed finally coming around. Still structured but softening and approachable, with a lovely gentle dried floral and sous-bois character emerging. I do prefer the refinements that show in more recent wines made by this cooperative, but this is a charmingly rustic wine that sings with the right food alongside.

Besøk av broderen. PnP forsiktig moden lukt, litt stikkende. Lite smak. Opp 1 poeng. Trenger luft. Bør dekanteres neste gang.

this has always been a dark fruited tannic beast, but was surprised how the tannins have softened, and the fruit still ample. There still is structure here. This was finally drinking great IMO. I really enjoyed this. I still have 3 bottles from my original purchase.

Nebbiolo and White Truffles (Matt's, Portland OR) : This was from magnum. There is a seamless and fresh quality to the red-fruited tones of strawberries, red cherries, fresh picked berries, crushed rocks, potpourri, leather notes, sweet tobacco, and earth notes. The Medium/full bodied feel is well balanced and silky with crisp, high acidity and silky, high tannins. The magnum is making a noticeable difference here. This is showing a lot more fresh and vibrant while the structure has peeled back …

From a Barbaresco tasting with Giacosa Barbaresco Falletto 1998, Gaja Barbaresco 2010, and the following wines from Produttori di Barbaresco: Montefico 2008, Montestefano 2009, Pora 2008, Paje 2008. Clear brown with a fine red core. Tobacco, nuts, some roses, and fine tones of cherry verging on dried cherries. Medium to full bodied attack, then the tannins kick in on the midpalate almost numbing the senses. When the dryness fades out a citrusy freshness emerges together with lots of dried fruit …

Amazing how well these delvelop. Still good grip with noticable tannins. Nose fresh with mature dark red fruit /berries and slight touch of tobacco. Quite a decent amount of sediment so treat with care when serving. If anything at peak, but think will remain here for a while.

Slightly oxidised, distinct notes of sherry on nose and end. These vanished overnight. Otherwise incredibly smooth, with a good body and nice fruit and tobacco, coffee, especially the next day. This bottle is definitely on the down, glad we caught it before it tipped over.

Very lovely barb. Rusty red, good nose of cherry, roses, some Smokey tar. It is still fresh and correct, lots of ripe and mature fruit, well rounded acidity attacks the palate before it widens out in a nice spectrum of tart, red berries, raspberry and some currant. Quite long. Excellent wine in its prime drinking window.

Decanted for 3 hours. Opaque bricky ruby. Nose of plum blossom, full rose petal, somewhat searing tar, soy, camphor, saline. Palate revealed layers of delicious plum fruit, tarry earth, sweet grip, and resinous texture. Fresh acidity and serious but filed off tannin. Long finish of earthy red plum, tar, deep soil, and exquisite grip. Quite excellent now, could age for years.

Watching Sunday Night Football (Eagles vs Cowboys) with Walter. Pnp Medium red in color. Bouquet of violets and some kirsch. Certainly cherries on the palate, but I also get some pomegranate. Initially a bit chalky, but this blew off over time as the wine put on weight. A bit of tannin still remains. Seems youthful and will likely remain good for years to come. Nice foil for my rigatoni Bolognese. Never very inexpensive, but I love Produttori for its QPR.

Tasted alongside Produttori's Rabaja Riserva 2000. Lively nose with red fruits and spice. Medium bodied, silkier and with more red fruits, structurally more forbidding with firm blocky tannins, dense and unyielding. Acid. End note of tar, briar. Juicy. With 24 hrs: more dark fruits, some mint notes emerge. Approach next bottle in 5 years?

Battle of Barbaresco, cooperative Produttori against Gaja, the king of Barbaresco. Vintages 85, 90 and 01 tasted against each other. Soft and smooth wine, still alive. Wet cherries, licorice, calm fruit, brown rib, fades slowly in the glass after 20 minutes. Storage questionable.

From 750: Complex nose of tar, alcohol, underbrush, and perhaps rose petal. Palate shows considerable fruit, although tannin still dominates. Better with food (although in fairness it had now been open for more than an hour).Good acidity and a nice finish. I expect that a few more years in the bottle will pay off in spades. Certainly no hurry to drink up.

Well it was the 3rd bottle of the night but this wine came off the cork swinging and pleasing Feral, sauvage and truffly aromas with a pretty young complexion. I found the wine to be in a perfect place with loads of fruit, correct tannins and length.
