Bricco del Cucù Dogliani Satiro

Enjoyed this one, particularly the nose. Very Italian, and of course good with food (we had eggplant parm.). Popped to Vinturi to decanter and drank immediately and over the next hour or 2. Completely opaque and inky black in color, with some ruby at the very edges. 50/50 blend of dolcetto and merlot, which surprised me because I guessed it to be nebbiolo before inspecting the back of the bottle. Musky with green olives on the nose. Very tart and tannic when opened and needs at least 2 hours of decanting to soften. Once open though, we got dark broody plum to start then notes of wet leaves finishing with tea and that olive we got on the nose. Still very firm tannins - I think it will evolve and be better presented in a year or two.
