(random mid-week) Inky black garnet in glass. Effusive black florals and berries and leather, some age. Dark spices, underwood, and umami, with a pronounced ashy bitter: disconcerting and distracting - flawed bottle?

This bottle was quite mature. It showed some aged character as some 90s aussie shiraz. Solid body with powerful taste of black fruits from the beginning to the finish. Drank very smoothly. Good depth and long aftertaste. Very impresssive.

Did not take notes on this but from memory this was performing above expectations for me. Still preserving that Aussie Shiraz strength and power but this stood out as bring quite classic. Somewhat like the older pre 95s Shiraz that I have tasted. Some zip and racy cherry citrus character uplifting the full black fruited body. Nice.

Beautiful bouquet with slightly toasted oak, liquorice and black forest fruits. On the palate black fruits and bitter chocolate. Mouth filling. Very concentrated and full bodied. Good tannin. Will stay on this level for at least 4+ years.

Black fruit...blackberry noticable. A tongue coating texture. Not a fruit bomb. Pretty well balanced and enjoyable although not terribly complex. This is drinking well and very enjoyable.

Wines of Australia and New Zealand (Farpointe Cellar) : The nose had a very distinct Bengay smell, plus some licorice and blackberry. The palate had lots of licorice and blackberry, along with Bengay and stone.
