Nose of oak and pepper. Sweet berries and spices, with a slight chocolate finish. Bit too cloying.

Old 2011 notes. Nose of plum with some dark fruit. Rich, spicy taste with a touch of butter. Medium finish. Overall nice and pleasant.

Plum, spices and vanilla on the nose. This wine doesn't offer much complexity on the palate. It is a fruit bomb, almost sweet, jammy, with Asian spices and soft tannins. Some dark berries in the mid palate, supported by a good acidity and followed by a peppery finish (retail $9.99)

Wine Tasting at Underground Wines (Underground Wines) : The Milton Park Barossa Shiraz is a ruby wine with medium legs. The nose is predominantly earth and leather. Lots of fruit in the mouth with black cherry and mulberry. Smooth textured, with fine tannins and high alcohol. The black cherry finish has better than medium length.

- Crimsom color with medium forming legs - Lovely Shiraz, particularly for the price. Typical juicy fruits - blackberries and raspberries. Peppery finish but a little sweet. Very voluptuous, lots of round edges. Drank it with strip steaks marinated in soy sauce, garlic, thyme, rosemary, and scallions. Complemented well. Would definitely buy another bottle, particularly at this price.

Very fruit-forward, comes across as a typical Aussie shiraz with a good fruity palate and a peppery finish. Nicely made, well balanced. An excellent value for US$10. An hour of decanting brought out more fruit.

Pretty good for $9.00. Nice fruit, on the nose & pallet. Slight chocolate on the finish. Well worth the price.

Pretty one-dimensional but had some lively raspberry fruit forward and a little tannic pepper finish. Good table wine and not bad for the retail price but not worth the $26 at the restaurant. The decent fruit held up to Thai food nicely.

Who'd have thought...nose of fruit, leather and earth, big fruit bomb of a wine, tannins fully integrated into the finish. What a quaff for $8.99/bottle....

This isn't my usual cup of tea, so I'll decline to give it a rating. Somewhat distilled blackberry fruit, whiskey barrel, with brambly tones that remind me of Zinfandel. Caught a bit of ginger when I first opened it, but couldn't detect it again. Finishes a little sweet (NutraSweet of over-ripe Shiraz, not residual sugar) and a little hot. But there's nothing wrong here, and I think this is probably a good buy at the price point.

This has improved in the 3 years since I drank it last. It's rounded and not overly ripe. Simple but enjoyable. Two of us liked it but the third didn't.

Initial taste was quite pleasant. After two hours of breathing, though, it was somewhat grapey and a little harsh on the finish. An hour+ later and it was pretty decent again. Certainly drinkable but nothing special. - On night two, it was smoother and a bit better. My cooking wine du jour, $5 special Savanha 2007 Shiraz from South Africa, was smoother to drink right out of the bottle.

A very good wine for $9/bottle. It is still fruity but needs to be proper temperature before drinking. Right out of the cellar at 57°F was too cold for the flavors to be evident. 2nd glass was much better as a result.

Ok, so the concentration is impressive and the finish is medium to longish. Still a one-dimensional wine of ripe fruit and over-the-top fruit forward wine. At the price, no complaints.

I'm surprised at my reaction to this wine. Usually, I adore Australian shirazes. This one seems a little simple and too over-the-top ripe. There's something not quite balanced on the palate, although the finish is surprisingly long.

This is a great example of a well done Shiraz at a good price. It is deep red in the glass and hardly transparent. I smell creamy raspberry, oak vanilla. In the mouth it is lush, with a blackberry jam taste, it is sweet but not too much. I enjoyed this because of its dry, spicy, fruity structure. I can also taste a bit of strawberry with a nice tannin and soft soil. Great job at containing the 13.9% of …

A pretty nicely balanced shiraz. Fruit forward and No mistaking it for a frenchie, but I don't think that it falls into the "fruit bomb" category as some others have said. Its pretty well balanced with nice clean black cherry on the front end and spicey black pepper. There is some backbone and the pepper is there on the finish. Its a nice wine, especially for the money.

UPDATE: Oddly enough, would upgrade this to an 86 after having been opened and sitting in the fridge for two days. Was better than a 2001 Guigal CdP. Still too sweet, especially on the nose, but the palate was richer and more velvety. Finish still quite short.

Overrated. Sweet, fruity nose. Some black pepper on the palate. Fairly thin and one-dimensional. Pleasant enough, butI don't get all the raves. Decanting does make the nose a little richer, but still thin and flat on the palate.

first, I must mention that we made the mistake of drinking this directly after a 2001 Rosemount G.S.M., which was absolutely fantastic. The GSM clearly made this pale in comparison, so my score may be a bit harsh, but if it is it's not by much. NOSE: Spicy, smoky, sweet apple cider, not as complex as the Rosemount GSM BODY: cherry red; clear; medium-light bodied TASTE: Ugh! Clay, sweet, simple, out of balance (no tannins whatsoever), and kind of hot. …
