Tart cherries, medium bodied, nice acidity. Good QPR. Needs a little air. Could improve a bit with some shelf time.

Allowed to slow-ox 5 hours, this was consistent with the bottle of last month, but with added complexity and more discernible layering of fruit. Something for everyone here, I think, and so very 2013. 13,5% abv. (resolved). recommended Served non-blind. https://italianwine.blog/

Medium-dark ruby, clear throughout. Mixture of fruit and soil on the nose, not so much complexity right now (and not sure there ever will be), but, and this is a good but, this is an excellent food wine thanks to very fresh acidity and well-delineated fruits (mostly red, some black). Super easy to drink, pour this for your friends that say they don't like Italian wines, and at the same time, have it with your meal and you both win. …

Decanted (but no deposit) and tasted after 6h. Pretty much as my previous note (June 2015). A good nose showing sour cherries, redcurrants, and spice. Sweet cherry fruit on the palate. Smooth, easy to drink. with good balance of acidity. Long with a soft damson-skin tannic finish but seems less complex than my last bottle. A good match for roast lamb but still very drinkable on its own. Good now but I'm not sure what this will do in the …

A decant reveals aromas cherry, strawberry, pomegranate with aromas of bramble, cigar smoke, mineral and dried flowers. The palate is medium in body. Medium acidity, tannins and alcohol. Flavors of cherry, pomegranate, and strawberry with tobacco, bramble, smoke, dried hibiscus and mineral. medium through the clean finish. Overall, easy, light and delicious. Decant recommended.

Quite a light colour and a lovely nose showing cherries, redcurrants, and herbs. Smooth and approachable now but will undoubtedly develop over many years if previous vintages are a guide. Good balance and long with a soft damson skin tannic finish. A good match for roast lamb but surprisingly drinkable on its own. Good value. Avignonesi 2011 Grandi Annate release (Eataly) : this vintage is 100% Sangiovese. from sandier soils, younger vineyards. Modest aromatics, red cherry fruit. quite mineral to the palate. med/- tannin. flavors marry nicely with the fresh thyme and mushrooms in the salad.
