Ripe Riesling Tasting (@Weindorf, Kirchheim) : Glass: Gabriel Universal. Opened about 2-3h before tasting. Clear, deep golden color. Advanced nose, notes of oxidation. Palate is better, but not as good as a perfect bottle. You can feel the structure and energy, but this bottle was too advanced, even though it was perfectly stored since release. 88-89

Glass: Zalto Bordeaux Popped and poured, drunk over two days. Clear, medium golden color. Clean, pronounced and youthful-developing nose. Sweet pineapple, candied fruit, lots of mineral notes, spices. Very deep and complex. Legally dry with some extract sweetness, high, racy, well integrated acidity. 13% abv. Lots of warm, ripe, tropical fruit. Wonderful intense mineral core, fresh herbs and spices. Wonderful vibrant energy, great tension and grip! Powerful, but with a beautiful harmony and balance. Very joyful to drink, round and …

A private lunch (Restaurant Geranium ***, Copenhagen, Denmark) : Quite a spectacular Brunnenhäuschen, very representative of the cool 2010 growing season, where physiological ripeness was achieved late, which results in a beautiful tension between big and rich (tropical) fruit and vibrant, juicy acidity; the vineyard's piercing chalky minerality is almost completely covered in flesh, there is effortless harmony and wonderful drive and energy, subtle bitters; rich finish, excellent length. Perfectly representative of its terroir, in spite of all its power.
