Quite rich, great balance, medium body. Shows the strength and beauty of the vintage. Blackberry, blackcurrant and cassis. Some unresolved oak. Mid length, straightforward, still very primary. Drinking now, will evolve and develop complexity over many years to come.

No decant, opened and the aromas was already very apparent once the bottle was opened. 20y.o. bottle. Condition was very good. Savory red, a balance between fruit, oak and herbs but each element was not punchy. Very elegant and smooth tannins. Dry. Full body, long finish.

Very velvety and round, not much acidity without being bland, blueberry, blackberry and cassis with a touching leather, beautiful finish

Same as my prior notes. You can't it for a half an hour and then served. Wine is soft in the mouth and has beautiful blue and red fruits. Has a little pony barn and some tobacco. Finishes smooth. No hard edges and drinking perfectly right now.

Drinking well with air. Opened the bottle 4 hours, no decant. Typical Pessac notes of tobacco and pencil lead. Tannins still evident in the first pour, melt over time. Happy to have 8 more bottles. I think this drinks well until 2030

Drinking well, on a plateau. Deep colour, good fruit & well balanced claret. Will still keep.

Quite the oddest thing I’ve had with aged Bordeaux happens with this bottle. My case has been well stored in a wine fridge for several years after being in a good moist cellar. The wine was decanted and left for 45 minutes. It’s delicious. Smooth classy and elegant. Very enjoyable and cruising along at a dinner. Then after another 45 mins and rapidly the wine crashed and lost all balance. Turned tannic and unpleasant. Never had such a rapid downturn …

Great too, but at this stage I preferred the ‘04. This one can keep going, if I had more bottles I’d hold another 3 years or so for the next one. Still young.

Wine is still drinking nicely and on a plateau. Tannins are holding up well and the fruit is sweet. The wine exhibits pony barn, tobacco, and some cedar. The finish is between 1 and 2 minutes. I used the corivin to keep it fresh and on day 4 it is still great. Had with veal and the Bordeaux style was subtle and perfect with the dish. You do not need steak. I encourage you to try a bottle. The fruit …

3 hour decant resulted in a remarkably smooth and flavorful tasting experience for the second wine of one of the greats. From an excellent vintage, so I'm wondering how much better the primary Haut-Brion would be. Seems like it's at its peak so probably a few more great years. Wish I had more.

At our Commanderie dinner of Second Wines(1995 & 2005 Pavillon Rouge, 2005 Bahans Haut Brion, 2009 Croix de Beaucaillou and 2009 Reserve de la Comtesse). The most developed wine of the night versus 1995 & 2005 Pavillon Rouge, 2009 Croix de Beaucaillou and 2009 Reserve de la Comtesse. Nice secondaries, a third of the way along the drinking plateau. Drink 2018-2030. This should improve over the next few years. I get tobacco, classic Pessac-Leognan character.

Smokey, dark raspberry nose with a touch of capsicum pepper. Medium body, tannins nicely softened, with a lightness through the clean palate. Good fruit with a light touch of earthyness and pleasing length. Drinking well, with plenty of life left.

Great wine from an outstanding vintage. Opened two hours prior to drinking. A little metallic at first open but that scent disappeared over time. Really nice nose, cedar, tobacco, forest floor. Flavours of blackberries, flowers and vanilla. Really nice overall. Long finish. I think this will still benefit from more cellar time (3-5 more years). 92+

Tabac, cedar, leather, cured meat, baking spice, cocoa powder, sweet plums and prunes, a little blackberry too. Smooth and resolved, tangy acids and velvety tannins. This is classic. Long drying finish, lots of dried fruit, spice and tobacco, as well as a hint of menthol. Very Pessac. This will last many more years, and it is probably just getting better for now.

Deep purple red colour. Ripe, cedar spicy fragrance, bright fruit, pencil shavings. Silky attack, good acid and strong but fine tannins, lovely structure. Years ahead. Ripe cassis, raspberry, earthy, cedary, hints of crushed herbs, blueberry, mulberry, delicious Graves complexity. Refinement, depth and complexity of a wine of higher standing.

Good drinking now, but can still keep for 10 more years. Aged taste, easy drinker. Worth $50 but not $150
