Terra Costantino, DeAetna, Etna Rosato

A riper style for sure, lusher and more viscous, but still well-balanced and refreshing, if not a huge acid bomb like some Etnas. (I say that with love.) Was looking for a heavier white on a cool spring evening and this was perfect.

Nose of yellow apple and slate, a little more complexity on the palate with a savory and saline side. M body, M to M- acid, mostly dry. A bit simple but good quality and shows the mineral character for sure; very good with an oniony mushroom risotto. ~6/10

Some oxidation on the nose and fairly dark in color. First taste reminds me of a mild dry sherry, but with much more fruit, freshness and acidity. I'm not sure if it's meant to be this way or there's some pre-ox, but I quite like the wine. Smells like it will be a heavy unctuous wine, but on the palate it's fairly light-bodied. Bu avec Sylvie et Carol, beau produit différent et soyeux. Fait de nerellos mascalese et cappuccio. Le nez est sur la terre, les prunes et les épices. EN bouche, fin et élégant avec de belles saveurs de fumées, de muscade et de sang avec les prunes et les cerises qui viennent en millieu. Finale assez courte mais tout en soie et en raffinement.

An attractive Etna Rosso DOC that takes a half hour to open up and show its stuff. I'm still looking for the clues I need to identify nerello mascalese blind, a task I regretfully find gets harder with age (mine, not the wine's!).
