Finished the bottle today. After three days and an hour of decanting, this was a very tasty wine. Mouthfilling and very bold. Great accompaniment to my flat iron steak salad with apples, pecans, and dried cranberries. The 88 score holds. Will definitely buy again.

The wine is an Autralian blend of 93% Shiraz and 7% Viognier. Color (5/5): Beautiful dark purple-magenta; opaque in the center of the glass. Nose (13/15): Typical Shiraz leather and dark fruit with some floral overtones. Imagine rubbing flowers on a saddle in the heat of the day. Palate (15/20): Plum and berry stew served in a leather bowl. A little hot right out of the bottle, but smooths out fairly quickly. My second glass had been decanted for about …

This is improving / calming down. Still fruit-driven and somewhat simplistic, but well enough made with the alcohol becoming less obvious. A ripe bubblegummy fruit nose, sweet fruit on the attack, the alcohol noticeable but no longer seeming out of balance, reasonable length. A good bbq wine now. Still wouldn't want to drink a bottle of it, in fact a glass sufficed, but certanly drinkable.

Big bold Aussie shiraz. Bit jammy but reasonable VFM.

Deeply coloured with a sweet and slightly oaky nose of fresh fruit with bubblegum notes. Very big, alcoholic and sweet almost slightly cloying on the palate. A young beaujolais on heat! Wouldn't want to drink too much of this. By the second day it had mellowed ever so slightly but was still pretty full on. Probably best at the moment after 3 days aeration. Definately worth leaving for a couple of years to see what happens.

YUMMY. Velvet and spicy. Tobacco and Leather. This was an interesting wine, that is going to be bought again. I'd like to see how this wine would be in 2 years.

Bright dark ruby red, almost inky black in colour. High level of alcohol on the nose, hints of pepper and fruit. Firm tannins and balanced acide with a medium length.

Old Bridge Cellars Australian Tasting (Fleming's Steak House, Houston Texas) : Very dark ruby with a complex nose including florals and pepper. Although fruit forward it was balanced. In flavor profile it was similar to D'arenbergs Laughing Magpie. About $16 retail. Winery notes: The grapes for Zonte’s Footstep are sourced from our five hundred and twenty odd acre vineyard at Langhorne Creek, one of Australia’s oldest wine grape districts just South East of Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, on …

($16) Screw cap top. 95% Shiraz and 5% Viognier. Unknown whether the Viognier was cofermented or not. Excellent, albeit heavy, aromatics of peaches, nectarines, and honey suckle over black fruit. Full-bodied, lush, and concentrated. Deeply colored. Pretty nice, and decent value at this price.
