What a wonderful Riesling! One, if not the best Riesling from Pfalz I have tried. Power with elegance or Elegance with power? Very complex both on nose and in the mouth, and a aftertaste that never ends. Impressive

Cork was dried out and somewhat disintegrated on opening, even with a double-sided rescue opener. Wine was a bit oxidized and overly acidic.

Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Tasting : Big, juicy, hedonistic. Pure pleasure in a bottle. Drinking amazingly well right now but has the structure to last decades.

Bottle No. 0233. Third bottle from a half case purchased at the estate in 2010. Last tasted in January 2017, when it was impressive but quite unyielding. Today it sports a rich and full yellow colour; the nose combines tart citrus (lemon and lime) with broader, spicy notes; the palate is crisp and energetic, but powerful and concentrated at the same time; the zesty finish has excellent length. Early maturity, will develop its complexity over the next 10-15 years.

Completely agree with the CT review by Zweder: Tropical flavors and butter in the bouquet. On the palate tropical fruits, a bit fat, ok citrus. The wine is starting to show some age. Still drinking nicely. Drank well over 3 days, and I didn't even spray it with N2 the second night -- not unusual for Pfalz rieslings, but very unusual for most of the rest of the world.

Chardonnay and Italians : Tropical nose with pear, pineapple, yellow florals, peach and orange rind. Powerful and ripe on the palate, really good length and balance here. Fine acidity and drinking really well at the moment with the components sitting together well. Will likely hit another stage of development given time but it's really good now!

Bürklin Wolf Young vs. Old (Louis C. Jacob, Hamburg) : From Magnum. Light yellow. In the nose, this is very fresh, embryonic, herbal, floral, white fruity. It's already quite fine, but there's more potential than substance at the moment. On the palate, it's nicely balanced, fresh by way of a very present acidity, dryish, but with nice fruity notes of white stone fruit. Long finish. Absolutely delicate, but so young.

Opened a day ago. Really not bad. Classic Riesling nose, albeit a tad restrained, with just a hint of sweetness. Great purity though the acidity was definitely poking out. Not complex for sure but delicious now and definitely very precise. Great value.

Fresh inviting mineral aroma, strong positive palate more reminiscent of a Rheingau than a typical Pfalz. Not too much tropical fruit, great purity, and food-friendly. Bürklin-Wolf, eben! Medium finish, dominated by the good acid backbone. Excellent value at under 10 Euros retail, acceptable value for the 30-odd we paid in a restaurant. 88P
