Surprisingly good. White pepper, red berries, smooth with decent tannic grip. Medium to full bodied. A great mid-week wine. Must buy more.

Friday at the strand (Strand Cellars, Croydon) : Black pepper, blackberry, a little whole bunch, green peppercorn, pretty oak. Juicy, savoury, peppery, fruit a little diminished; present but playing second fiddle, chalky tannins, hmm.

Dense dark red, purple hue. Open nose, dark fruits, spices, violet hints. Medium body, grainy tannins, smooth texture. Medium dry finish with oak and black pepper notes. All good and well polished, just expect a little more density as this one has so many accolades: NZIWS trophy, Royal Easter Gold, Hawkes Bay Wine Awards Gold, BC 95 Ap 5/5, Ar 12/15, Palate 17/20, Overall 4+3/10 Total 91+/100
